This morning I had the grave misfortune of walking out of Safeway for last minute grocery shopping to see a dog get hit by a truck!! :eek2: :( I was crossing the street and this golden brown pitbull starts running across when this idiot driver in a pickup truck just rolls right over it!! OMG!!!! BUT THANK GOD, THE DOG JUST STARTED GETTING UP AND RUNNING OFF!!! His owners and some other people caught the dog, and he looked fine except for a few nasty scratches under his belly and leg. Too bad we couldn't get the driver, he just drove right off acting like he wasn't even aware of what the hell he did!!! We all saw what had happened and were so shaken up. NOT the best Christmas memory to start the day with. But hopefully the traffic cams at the intersection caught the driver, and I hope they owners are able to get the dog to a vet ASAP, it looked fine but it should be checked out for internal injuries. This town is a big dog loving town and pitbulls are favorites for a lot of people. I'm a little leary of them, but I don't wish that to happen to any animal!!! :crying:

I've been unfortunate enough to see several animals get run over by cars. People should be more attentive while they are driving. What if that was a small child running in front of the car?

One night driving home really late, I saw this big white dog that had been hit....he was in really, really bad shape (I'll avoid getting graphic)! A car in front of me stopped to help, but there was nothing that could be done to save him. I had nightmares of the thing for several days!

That's a traumatic experience Greg. When I was in the sixth grade, I had the unfortunate luck, bad luck, whatever you want to call it, of seeing a cat get run over by a car. Unfortunately, this cat didn't wind up as lucky as that dog, as this was a head on, and I mean it when I say a HEAD ON, crash. The sound was absolutely horrific!!!!! These girls who were also walking to school screamed, and cried the whole way there. They were inconsolable, and I had knots in my stomache all day, and even cringe thinking about it now. Not a fun thing to witness to say the very least!! :(

We had hit it!! Of course, being the cat-lover that I am, it was agonizing, but sometimes, animals have no sense of timing when they just run out into the road in front of oncoming traffic! That cat ran out in front of us without stopping, we no time to react, it was just one second before we passed it. It wasn't my pastor's fault, of course, but sometimes it drives you crazy that animals can act so wreckless!
It's so upsetting when they run out like that! :(

I know someone from myspace, their dog got hit yesterday. Luckily the dog is doing just fine. Such a great dog.
