Why on earth would somebody give underwear as a Christmas present?
You're right, that's something that people should buy for themselves.

In my family, we started this "tradition" a few years ago involving giving socks and underwear as gifts.

My Father would tease the grandkids that if they misbehaved, Santa would leave them nothing but boring gifts, like socks and underwear instead of toys.
Then one year, my Mother put socks and packs of underwear in all the Christmas stockings.

So personally, i don't mind getting underwear as a gift.

I wouldn't buy underwear for anyone as a gift. I think Christmas is a time for getting luxury items. Even as kids, my parents never bought us clothes for Christmas...just toys. They clothed us great anyway.

My grandparents almost always give us socks as part of our stockings, but they didn't this year...

I won't buy it for someone as like a major gift, but I have bought it before as like, either a gag gift (funny boxers) or as stocking stuffers...

I HATE getting it, but unfortunately, that's about all I got this year from my husband....not good stuff or anything, either....just kinda "bland, I didn't really feel like thinking" stuff :( Oh well.

Hey, if you need underwear, you need underwear. Why buy it yourself when someone else can? That stuff can get expensive.

And yes, I gave underwear and undershirts as gifts this year. We do it a lot.

I get it sometimes... a load of socks and gloves though from people that don't give as much; but from close relatives I got better items. :p

Um, my sister's husband -- that's my brother-in-law for these of you who aren't sure how this works... Anyway, my BIL had one hell of an awful and difficult childhood when he was growing up. Before last year, the last actual Christmas he had was when he was 3 years old (1984).

He came down here for Christmas with us last year, and we gave him a ton of underwear and socks. And guess what? HE LOVED IT. He hadn't had a real Christmas in 21 years, and we gave him a damn good Christmas last year. So, dammit, if people want me to give 'em underwear for Christmas, I'll give 'em some. Think about it -- underwear is always in supply and there are a million different varieties.

For those of us guys who are too lazy to shop for clothes, getting underwear to replace the old ragged falling apart underwear isn't a bad gift.

My dad asked for Boxers and when he opened his gift and saw they were boxes boy was he happy and I was thinking to myself how can he be that happy about a couple pairs of underwear I wouldn't want that for christmas. I can get them anytime I want something that isn't something I can get all the time.

In regards to giving underwear for Christmas. It's not really a big deal. Underwear is something people use, so it's better to get someone underwear than trying to stress out over what to get a certain person and them returning or re-gifting your gift, right? Underwear is something everyone can relate to. I mean, think about the variety, shapes, colors, and preferences of underwear.

Solomon, you are so damn nitpicky and ungrateful! So what if somebody bought you some drawz for Christmas?! Be thankful because they didn't have to do that! You sound hard to please and impossible to live with. Ever thought about maybe that's what the person could afford in their budget? hell, for my birthday last year, my mother brought me some T-shirts! I had some, but I really was happy that she did that because she loved me enough to think about my birthday! Grow up and get rid of the sour grapes young man, life is too short. You should be glad somebody brought you some drawz, especially female company, then she would be trying to tell you something.....if you know what I mean. LOL

Swedeace was right, stop making a big thing out of nothing.

And yes, I gave underwear and undershirts as gifts this year. We do it a lot.
The really nice t-shirts and very nice underwear overall is EXPENSIVE. My boyfriend only wears this certain brand of t-shirts. They are very good quality, they don't stretch, they are not thin, AND EXPENSIVE. I didn't realize the difference until he pointed these things out. He won't wear cheap t-shirts like Hanes brand, etc. It has to be this expensive brand.

It lasts longer, fits better. I buy my husband either Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren briefs, and they cost about 12 to 15 dollars each. I try to catch good sales. I pay a small fortune for his socks. You get what you pay for.
