Note: The actor John Amos was Hospitalized in 1977 for High Blood Pressure. Info From 1977 Jet Magazine

I remember one episode where Florida was cooking and it looked like she added lard into the greens she was cooking.

It was "the nude"...this was the only time it appeared something was actually being cooked on that stove.

I guess the point of the episode was NOTHING. But it did point out that James had anger issues. He couldn't CONTROL HIS ANGER.

However, dealing with Florida who wouldn't give him a break regarding money he couldn't keep, jobs he couldn't take, the kids on his ass, etc. I am not surprised he had anger issues.

It was the way it was done. In a nagging way. Thelma's dramatic way of saying it didn't help either. That's why James said the only one who wasn't nagging him was J.J. "one because I respect you...and two, because I fear for my life."
I mean, they dumped on him while he is going thru this "crisis" the worst time to talk to someone is when they are going thru something bad or when they are angry. It should have been told to him WAY BEFORE HE EVER GOT SICK.
