Well I finally am ready for the most part. I took my placement test this morning then registered and got my class schedule. I got my GED last month which was my first big step. I'm taking 4 classes, English Composition I, Elementary Algebra, Developmental Reading III, and Music Appreciation, two each on Monday-Thursdays from 8-10:45am. I'll be back home around 11am and have Fridays off. I start on January 8th.

Congratulations!

I'm nearing the end of my undergrad studies. I'm scared about going into the real workforce.

Awesome! I'm planning on transferring to a new college very soon. It's both scary and exciting.

Good luck!

Well I made it through the easy first day. Just placement tests for what level in each class I fall in. 2nd class ended early and I've been home for a half-hour(just before 11am!) College is great.

The teacher was frazzled which was hilarious. She was running around freaking out. :p

You behave yourself, young man. Remember to get a little studying in between the partying.

I forgot the whole "academics" portion of college, so I found myself having to drop out in my first semester.

I'm starting my spring semester at Fullerton Community College next week --next Tuesday, after Martin Luther King Day.
So, Brent, are you at University, or Community College?
I have my set of challenges, being almost 30 years older than other students, except for my fellow over-40 crowd. This is my 3rd year --we in the vocational fields tend to stay longer than 2-years, because we can take journalism and TV and radio classes for extra semesters. It will be awhile before I take enough gen-eds to transfer or graduate.
I'm looking for a part-time job but have troubles, because employers at Target and other places act like operating a cash register is akin to brain surgery! I think it's that they don't have anyone to train people on the job at many places. Also certain places are for career retail workers. They don't want anyone working their way through college, anymore.

Niiiice schedule. Wish mine had looked like that. I guess I did have Fridays off my 2nd semester of my freshman year, but I had to take long night classes to do it.

It can be a killer to have to go 5 days a week, or more. My second semester I had 5 days a week, as I also did that Fall. This past fall, I had a FINE schedule for one with a part-time job--except that I didn't have a job! I only had 4 classes, on T-Th. This spring I have to do 4 days per, because of my M-W computer class. I've overloaded classes, maybe a mistake, but I've done it. I'm avoiding all the other worries in my life by doing what I'm best at --classes. :ohno:

Community college for the next 2 years, then onto a University.

Almost time for bed... 6:45am comes early.

Well, my 8am class today got cancelled. It was supposed to be the first day for it, so I'm home for about 30 minutes and then heading back.

I'm slightly annoyed because

A. I had to get up at 6:45am anyway
B. It's 40 miles roundtrip

But I only go back for an hour and a half.

You should stay in campus next time. I'm sure there is a deli or a coffee shop there. The student unions and the libraries are nice places to socialize as well, try finding some new friends in college or perhaps join a club.

Do it now, you'll regret it later. :)
