Robert 13 12-17-2006, 01:03 AM They have a new poll up with new shows listed. I voted for What's Happening Now!! and Bette!
Here's the link. Click on the center where it mentions the poll.

The $treet 10.99%
Bette! 13.65%

The Rookies 21.27%
Police Story 20.03%
Cupid 9.21%
vashti1999 12-17-2006, 01:34 AM Advice for anyone voting in this poll: vote for the show that you DON'T want released. That way, the show with the most votes won't come out...you know, like last time.
vashti1999 12-17-2006, 05:20 AM By the way, for anyone who forgot, these were more or less the final standings of Sony's last poll, as of October 2005. In bold are the dvds that have been released in at least one season set since then.
Johnny Cash Show
46.63%
One Day at a Time
25.32%
Benson
10.77%
Action
5.42%
Silver Spoons
5.13%
Facts of Life
4.65%
Designing Women
1.35%
Highway Patrol
0.34%
VIP
0.32%
Street Time

TVJunkie101 12-17-2006, 09:33 AM Oh wow! That's right. The ones that DIDN'T lead the polls got released and the ones that did are god knows where ... sigh.
Here's the current standings:
The $treet 9.7%
Bette! 14.02%
Michael Hayes 5.23%
What's Happening Now! 21.41%
The Rookies 20.8%
Police Story 19.56%
Cupid 9.24%
Pavan 12-17-2006, 12:44 PM Johnny Cash was coming but I have no idea what happened. It even had a set date but it was pulled almost last minute. ODAAT and DeW are said to be coming, but they have been saying that for years now and have never scheduled it for a set. They BETTER schedule them in 2007.
As for this poll, I think it is very likely we will see WHN!! because WH!! was a big success for Sony. Rookies and Police Story would be likely, too.
Robert 13 12-17-2006, 01:09 PM I hope we hear an announcement for WHN!! very soon. I hope they continue the WH trend and release all 3 seasons. I'm eager for Season 2 because of the episode where Shirley and Nadine go on a road trip. I wonder if they will continue the digipak packaging or the new slim-line cases they have been using for their recent releases. I'm hoping for the slim-line cases with more room for pics. I can't wait for this release!!:)

Yet for some reason, none of these three are released and/or part of this latest poll. I don't get it.
(Unless, of course, plans are already in making for these and they want to figure out what's next.)
TV_Fan 12-17-2006, 08:47 PM Don't forget Silver Spoons. First it wss supposed to get released, then not. Then it was going to I TV, then not. I don't think I'm ever going to see this show again.
robby76 12-17-2006, 09:36 PM I voted WHN.
I'd love to see Silver Spoons and One Day At A Time at some point!!! Thing with ODAAT is that it's a whole 10 seasons which may seem risky to start the ball rolling.
mlingerfelt 12-17-2006, 10:38 PM what about a poll more of like Who.s the Boss,Different Strokes,227 and SWAT.
B&W fan 12-18-2006, 03:32 PM Well, I'm not a huge Sony TVonDVD fan simply because they seem to be alergic to their entire black & white catalog. And even when they do release a show from the b&w era, they feel the need to colorize it [i.e. Bewitched, Jeannie].
Now here they are throwing out more 70's and 80's stuff, while some of their absolute best material is languishing in the vaults. Shows like "Father Knows Best", "Dennis the Menace", "Highway Patrol", and "The Donna Reed Show." Gosh it's sad to see a company be so apathetic to their classics. They could take a real lesson from Paramount, who is easily the king of classic TVonDVD at this point. They aren't afraid to release shows from the 50's and 60's.
B&W "this poll simply shows that Sony's execs must all be under the age of 30" Fan
mlingerfelt 12-25-2006, 01:14 PM looks like WHN and The Rookies are in the lead.
mlingerfelt 12-25-2006, 01:15 PM another thing on Paramount they release theirs quickly.
vashti1999 12-27-2006, 02:58 PM The standings as of this post:
The $treet 10.43%
Bette! 11.57%
Michael Hayes 5.43%
What's Happening Now! 22.32%
The Rookies 18.27%
Police Story 18.78%
Cupid 13.15%
The three I chose are the top 3 leaders.
Robert 13 12-27-2006, 03:27 PM I wonder what our chances are of getting WHN!! on dvd in 2007. :) It would be cool if Sony tried a new trend by releasing The Complete Series in one set. I know it's not going to happen but it would be an interesting marketing experiment to see how sales are.

I agree with you 100%. How about a list of the black and white shows that Sony should release. In addition to your list, what about Route 66, Tightrope, the remaining 39 hours and 39 half hours of Naked City, Adventures of Rin Tin Tin, Occasional Wife, Bridget Loves Bernie, Second Hundred Years, Love on a Rooftop, Girl with Something Extra.
Anyway it doesn't matter as the shows that win the poll don't come out anyway so why do they even bother?
BensonFan 01-03-2007, 12:42 PM Anyway it doesn't matter as the shows that win the poll don't come out anyway so why do they even bother?
That's what I'm trying to figure out as well.
vashti1999 01-06-2007, 04:11 PM Three weeks after it was mentioned here, they finally mention the Sony poll on tvshowsondvd.com. Interesting though, just like the Johnny Cash Show made a huge jump in the last poll after they mentioned it, Bette makes a huge jump now. Here's the latest standings:
Bette! 32.03%
What's Happening Now! 14.45%
The Rookies 13.29%
Police Story 13.02%
Cupid 10.97%
The $treet 8.95%
Michael Hayes 7.26%
bencasey 01-06-2007, 07:22 PM Do they have any checks on how many times you can vote? I don't think so which means that all you need is one idiot fan of Bette (could there be more than one?) to sit at their computer and vote all day.
robyrob 01-06-2007, 07:30 PM i think they just use a cookie - all you have to do is clear it to vote again.
Pavan 01-06-2007, 09:26 PM It looks like some Bette fanatic rigged the poll. Just like some Cash fan did it last time. Bette was way down at the bottom before.
vashti1999 02-06-2007, 11:46 AM It's been a while, so I thought I'd check the latest standings, and here's how it looks:
Cupid 35.2%
Bette! 29.57%
The $treet 14.2%
Michael Hayes 5.89%
What's Happening Now! 5.16%
The Rookies 5.04%
Police Story 4.9%
Robert 13 02-06-2007, 12:19 PM Yup, seems totally rigged. I wonder why Sony would bother to put WHN!! on the poll. Didn't the original series sell really well? I thought it did. So why not just follow-up with the next release?
