I wish there was an episode where Sgnt. Carter had to go to Mayberry with Gomer and also got a taste of Aunt Bee,s cooking and hospitality. also Duke or Frankie going home with Gomer to Mayberry.

Wasn't there an episode where Aunt Bea came to visit? Yes--I recall an early ep where Carter wouldn't let her visit Gomer, and she complained to the press, and Sgt Carter got into trouble. But it would've been nice if he'd visited Gomer's hometown

I LOVED Don Knotts! But I don't know if the "Gomer Pyle USMC" barracks would've hemmed-in his talents too much, even for a visit. It would've been best for Sgt Carter to visit Mayberry.

It would have been funny for Sgnt. Carter would have visited Mayberry.

They really should have done some cross-over shows. It would have definitely been funny. I remember Andy, Opie and Aunt Bea being on Gomer Pyle at one time or another. And those were pretty good episodes.
