View Full Version : Please,Thank you,and Excuse Me julian bozo 12-16-2006, 08:15 PM Does you use these terms? Janice 12-16-2006, 08:18 PM Yes, I do. I'm a very polite person, even at home with my husband. I basically treat people as they treat me. Number 9 Dream 12-16-2006, 08:27 PM Always....I was raised to be polite, and honestly, I can't stand rude people and would hate to treat others rudely. AllIWantIsYourClutch 12-16-2006, 08:27 PM Yes. I alway make it a point to say please and thank you to people and it really really bothers me when people are rude. It's like my number 1 pet peeve. EmoJoe 12-16-2006, 08:29 PM yeah, i do. Courtnee 12-16-2006, 09:18 PM all the time Hollow 12-16-2006, 09:21 PM yes. i feel bad if i don't. 80sTrivia 12-16-2006, 09:35 PM I always use these pleasantries, as I was brought up to be courteous... TJL 12-16-2006, 10:03 PM Of course. My Mother didn't raise me to be rude. sara 12-16-2006, 10:10 PM I always try to be polite. rusyd 12-16-2006, 10:27 PM I always do. It really bothers me that a lot of people don't. Jonathan 12-16-2006, 10:33 PM Of course. It is common courtsey. :) moeee 12-16-2006, 11:06 PM Yes i do use them. It shows that you are very polite when youre talking to people. tdf4077 12-16-2006, 11:32 PM I do, but most of my students don't, and that makes me sad...I don't let them do anything until they respond with these terms, though! Nighthawk76 12-16-2006, 11:35 PM I do! :D Fleet 12-17-2006, 12:17 AM I certainly do. :) Mr. Television 12-17-2006, 01:25 AM Yes I always do. Sometimes I think I'm to polite. Sharop 12-17-2006, 08:15 AM I do. I always have done. cmcb06 12-18-2006, 04:17 PM I do, I have done so since I can remember, I will always do so. It is called common courtesy, my dears. And being nice to others. Chocoholic 12-18-2006, 04:23 PM I use them all the time. I can't believe the number of people who don't bother with these simple manners anymore. They don't even teach their kids either. My students look at me funny when I ask them to say "please" when they want something, "Excuse me" when they need to get by someone, or whatever. Sad :( canuckkidd 12-18-2006, 05:23 PM Always, I was brought up to always be polite. I say thank you even when I am purchasing items and the salesperson hands me my receipt. I am also a big advocator of holding doors for people. It bothers me when people are not polite and it bothers me more when people view being polite as a sign of weakness and/or being fake. Regardless, I will always be polite. :) MsOrange 12-18-2006, 05:46 PM yep yep that, and I address everyone by "Yes ma'm, yes sir" etc. Even people my own age. dragster58 12-18-2006, 06:01 PM I always do..I was brought up that way, but most Anglo-Saxon children are. FOLrocks1 12-19-2006, 10:26 AM Yep. Most of the time I do. Yooch 12-19-2006, 11:09 AM all the time tdf4077 12-19-2006, 10:34 PM well, i've been paying attention a lot more lately, and i began realizing that a lot of people who claim to use them either actually don't, or when they do, it isn't the most sincere.... so now my question becomes: "if someone uses these terms but insincerely, it is better or worse than someone who doesn't use them at all?" Lex Luthor 12-20-2006, 02:17 AM I loathe people whom, are uncouth, ignorant or just plain rude!!; and I, go out of my way, to be polite and courteous (I was brought up to be a lady) I am always polite when dealing with people, when I find someone irate or rude I try to be overly polite just to get under their skin. This time of year especially so many people get so wound up and are so rude and arrogant (fighting for parking spots, cutting in line, etc...) no good will to men there. A big pet peave of mine is people who are rude to cashiers or customer service people, I have no problem pointing out to them that they are being rude in front of everyone else in line. dragster58 12-20-2006, 06:17 AM Just think about it.....to be polite is FREE and EFFORTLESS, so why not??! snl 70s show fan 12-20-2006, 04:44 PM i always do |
