Comedienne Rosie O'Donnell has come under fire for offending the Chinese community on her US talk show.
The actress-turned-TV host has been criticized by ethnic groups for using the phrase "ching chong" to represent the Chinese language on The View earlier this month.

But 44-year-old O'Donnell says she was unaware the remark was racist and offensive to Chinese people.

She says, "To say 'ching chong' to someone is very offensive, and some Asian people have told me it's as bad as the n-word. Which I was like, 'Really? I didn't know that.'

"I'm sorry for those people who felt hurt or were teased on the playground. But I'm also gonna give you a fair warning that there's a good chance I'll do something like that again, probably in the next week, not on purpose. Only 'cause it's how my brain works."

However, Unity: Journalists of Color, which represents ethnic groups in the media, says O'Donnell's remarks "really didn't sound like an apology," and are calling for The View producers to publicly condemn the host's comments.

I don't like Rosie, but let's get real here.

Try living your life and stop going around looking to be offended, because you always willl be.

And on the same note, I looked like crap this mornig and I'm publicly condemning my mirror.

I'm starting an awareness organization - PAMORD

Way to go Rosie. You have no problem calling out others for thier behavior or actions, but you're not going to make an attempt to keep yourself in check.

That seems fair.

I love it that Rosie's on the hot seat, even if it's over total nonsense. Political Correctness is biting her in the fanny. I wonder how she likes it.

You're right. Her type never feels ashamed. They call everyone out on everything, and shoot their fat mouths off about everything. Good Lord, I can't stand that bitch.

Rosie got a taste of her own medicine. She is quick to call people homophobes and other names, now she is getting it herself.

I forsee a lot of similar incidences occurring in the future, especially with Big Mouth Rosie on The View...

I think we all knew that the View would disintergrate into the Rosie O' Donnell show once she was added.

Personally I think this is stupid. Rosie was just joking. People get fired up over the stupidest things. Rosie keep doing what you do.

I agree, I saw her on the view talking about it, and it wasn't anything bad or a big deal. Now if she called asian people another name that Archie Bunker use to call them, Then I can see people getting upset. But not over this, it's just stupid.

Give me some real news.

Good point. She says she was joking, and I do believe her about that, but I also think Kelly Ripa said her comment as a joke, yet Rosie labeled her a homophobe.

Kelly never said that her comment was a joke. She was serious, and I don't blame her, who wants a stangers hand over their mouth?

No, she never said it was, but she completely said it in a joking manner. She didn't say it like she was pissed off. Though, I'm sure she probably was serious, but that's not the point. The point is that she was labeled a homophobe for saying it, just like Rosie was labeled a racist, when she's probably not. I was simply agreeing that Rosie is a hypocrite.
