Nick@Nite is now overseed by Nickelodeon, meaning they will program Nick@Nite now, not TV Land. The January schedule and the latest December changes (removal of Designing Women, Murphy, and NewsRadio) is a result of this change.

I don't see any reason to watch Nick@Nite at this point. I've only seen every episode of the three "Favorites" a couple billion times and that's just since they started airing them.

Nick@Nite has officialy gone down the drain. i have no reason to watch it anymore. i like FP but i got tired of it after i had seen EVERY EPISODE 3 times. Full House and Roseanne suck, TCS has been run to death...the only show i would watch is MAY but thats at 5 am.

I'm cmpletely agreeing. Nick at Nite has definitely changed since 1985. They are focusing on just 4 shows, and have already gotten rid of 3. Who would air Full House at 1 in the morning? It is kind of mystifying. Also, you can tell Nickelodeon just completely took over. They are now airing Full House way more than their other shows, and that is supposed to be the network's 4th highest rated show. Roseanne has definitely lost a lot of airings, when that is supposed to do real well.

And just when I had hope for A Different World, Mad About You, and Murphy Brown, I don't anymore. I can't wait to see how Ncikelodeon is going to program commercials, and marathons, and new shows and such. This is going to suck, really bad.

Why did Nickelodon buy out Nick at Nite anway? Was there some specific reason, or was it just a good negotiation?

I agree with Nick At Night's line-up.except,for one show.Roseanne.
I was just amused that they added the show to a Family Friendly concept.lol
Full House,Fresh Prince.and, the others fit that mode though. To me Rosanne was at best a bit racey at times.lol

Yeah, nick at nite stinks. They always get rid of almost every good show they ever get. They would only improve by running a test pattern.

So in the rich history of sitcoms, N@N can only see fit to air four major shows: Full House, Roseanne, Fresh Prince and The Cosby Show! With early morning viewings of Mad About You and A Different World, but those shows are pretty much lost on the N@N schedule.

I agree with Brent, this schedule is boring. Plain and simple.

And you know, I'm a little ticked off that my favorite show (NewsRadio) was bumped off the schedule, but that's not the point. This lineup sucks.

Well it's official ... Nick at Nite (1985-2006). It was on it's last legs ever since, I'd say around 2000. But every now and then, they would bring on a show that I like (Wings, NewsRadio). But then they would screw it up and take them off. So as of now, N@N is dead to me.

At this point, I wouldn't care if Nickelodeon went on all night. They could air "Classic" Nickelodeon, like "Hey Dude" and "Salute Your Shorts." Just get rid of N@N all together.

I Love Carol Burnett!
12-14-2006, 09:53 AM
Gah, N@N has went straight down the drain. That is ridiculous !! Oh how I miss the good ole' days........

12-14-2006, 10:03 AM
Was that a misprint? And I agree with everyone;they should add several different shows instead of concentrating on four.

12-14-2006, 04:12 PM
Ah, remember when Nick at Nite used to put care into their programming. When it wasn't just about ratings, when they had clever stunts like "Do you like your Happy Days Chachinated or Dechachinated." When they had Very Very Nick at Nite, All night Christmas parties with more than 4 or 5 shows, Classic TV Countdowns with Casey Kasem. When they would air 10 or 12 different shows between 8PM and 2AM. When they had catchy commercial jingles....

it's sad that those days are gone and Nick at Nite is just corporate crap now :( - at least we have the memories

TVJunkie101
12-14-2006, 06:26 PM
That is beyond awful but I'm not at all surprised!

So what happens to Murphy, Designing Women and NewsRadio? Do the shows just sit there or does TV Land still have access?

Pavan
12-14-2006, 06:47 PM
They will certainly still have access, they can linger on TV Land from time to time, like Murphy did before. Designing Women probably has the best shot of actually airing again.

How about airing them on Comedy Central? Aren't they Viacom? That would be interesting, IMO.

They are too old for Comedy Central. Scrubs will be coming to Nick@Nite in a few years, so NAN will share that with CC.

12-15-2006, 12:03 AM
Wow. I can't believe the last time N@N saw a "Hit Show" was way back in 2004, with The Fresh Prince. That is pathetic. All they care about is ratings, which TV Networks should, but N@N doesn't even give their new shows a chance. They have a marathon once, and if it's not successful the first night, they either yank it off their weeknight schedule, or shove it into the 4am slot.

Buffyboy323
12-15-2006, 12:06 AM
I haven't watched N@N in over a year, but I must say that the January 2007 schedule is better than any lineup tghey offered all through 2006. They're FINALLY showing their shows in "Double Takes", and they are in some kind of order. It's not a double take of Roseanne, then Cosby, then Roseanne, then Full House. They're actually giving all their big hits an hour, back to back with the other shows. Finally someone has used their head over there.

Buffyboy323
12-15-2006, 12:07 AM
I think Scrubs will be another good sitcom that doesn't do well on N@N, especially now with Nickelodeon taking over.
It'll be on for a week at 11, then they'll shove it to 4am for a month, then we won't see it on that Network again.

Buffyboy323
12-15-2006, 12:09 AM
Wow, what variety in that schedule.
It could be worse. They usually have something like this:

9:00 Full House
9:30 Fresh Prince
10:00 Fresh Prince
10:30 Fresh Prince
11:00 Roseanne
11:30 Roseanne
12:00 Roseanne
12:30 Cosby Show
1:00 Fresh Prince
1:30 Roseanne

Yeah it is. Not only for the current schedule, but for N@N in general. They're a FAMILY Network. I have no clue why they would buy the rights to Scrubs. They're also getting Friends in a few years. Ugh. It's like TBS. N@N isn't family after their 4 "babies" start leaving 1 by 1 next year.

friendsfan77
12-16-2006, 09:58 AM
I think N@N needs to check its nearest dictionary for the definition of "variety," 'cause this ain't it.

I like Scrubs and Friends a lot but I certainly dont see either of them fitting well on N@N. At all. Period.

Wow! This means that the Jan. 2007 wont be Fresh Prince Of Belair @ Nite anymore. I swear thats all they aired for a long time. When they had that marathon for a week in December, I had to chuckle. I was like, "whats the sense of having a marathon when they have one everynite of it anyway?" This is what the schedule should be (Sun. - Thurs.):

9:00- Full House
9:30- Designing Women
10:00- A Different World
10:30- News Radio
11:00- Mad About You
11:30- Roseanne
12:00- The Cosby Show
12:30- Murphy Brown
1:00- Fresh Prince Of Belair
1:30- Doogie Howser
2:00- The Hogan Family
2:30- Family Matters
3:00- Perfect Strangers
3:30- Home Improvement
4:00- Friends
4:30- Dharma And Greg
5:00- The Nanny
5:30- Frasier

Of course a schedule like this will probably happen when hell freezes over and Satan gives out free sleigh rides.

WOW, now they're airing movies! They really can't make their minds up. ONe thing about this schedule that really surprises me is that Roseanne is only airing in the morning time slots on Friday's and SAturday's, with Full House replacing it. I mean, if Roseanne was the second most popular show, why would they also shove it in the morning! Instead of Fresh Prince and Roseanne, Full House has taken over the rein as airing the most times each night. Very, very surprising. They need to make a good change, and get A Different World and mad About You earlier, or at least both shows once every night.

I can't wait to see the show on N@N.....Although I just had a flashback to when N@N had other shows from Growing Pains` time, like Head Of The Class, Perfect Strangers, Charles In Charge, Family Ties, and Who's The Boss?, and how they were ALL shoved to the 4am slot. Oh well, as long as Growing Pains is on N@N long enough for me to Tivo all the Seasons 2 through 7 episodes, and put them on VHS or DVD, i`ll be happy.......I don't know, cutting back on The Fresh Prince, and now airing Growing Pains? Things are actually looking up, over at N@N.

personally i'm ready for a whole new line-up... they have run all their shows into the ground i used to enjoy full house, fresh prince and sometimes roseanne a lot but now i can't even watch them. they did the same thing with the cosby show, they ran that thing into the ground and now i cant' stand it.

i am really over Family Matters too, for the most part i've seen it far too frequently, when it was on locals it was on all the time in my area, not to mention when it was on TBS and now, ABC Family...

I'm cool w/home improvement because it hasn't been as overplayed imho as other shows.

i'd love to see N@N pick up Punky Brewster and Blossom for the kids, but also add more adult shows like Empty Nest.

N@N worked so well because it was adult shows that kids could watch too, but now it's all kids shows... with the exception of Roseanne which doesn't fit in with the whole family viewing idea..

'Show Me That Smile Again...'

Nick at Nite Launches Hit Family Comedy Growing Pains Beginning Sunday, January 21

NEW YORK, Jan. 8 -- Nick at Nite will add the popular family comedy Growing Pains to its sitcom line-up beginning Sunday, January 21 at 9:00 PM (ET/PT), it was announced today by Tom Ascheim, Executive Vice President, General Manager, Nickelodeon Television. The series, which ran for seven seasons, was an immediate hit with viewers and launched the careers of teen heartthrobs Kirk Cameron and Leonardo DiCaprio. The 30-minute series kicks off with an all-night, nine-episode marathon on Sunday from 9:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. which will repeat from 1:30 until 6:00 a.m. Beginning Monday, January 22, the network will air an hour of Growing Pains with two back-to- back episodes every Monday through Thursday from 9:00 - 10:00 p.m. Growing Pains will also air Friday and Saturday at 10:30 p.m. and Sundays at 9:30 p.m. (*All times (ET/PT).

"Kids grew up watching Growing Pains in primetime and now, we are really excited for them to start enjoying it again with their own kids on Nick At Nite," said Ascheim. "The classic family comedy features a talented and witty cast and is a favorite that everyone can watch together."

Growing Pains aired from 1985 to 1992 on ABC and revolves around The Seaver family in Long Island, NY. Jason (Alan Thicke) is a psychiatrist married to Maggie (Joanna Kerns), a former newspaper reporter, and the two head up a family of three kids. Mike (Kirk Cameron) is a bit of a slacker and is constantly up to shenanigans; Carol (Tracey Gold) is the brainy middle child and Ben (Jeremy Miller) is the youngest Seaver who idolizes his older brother, Mike. Maggie's desire to go back to work prompts Jason to move his practice back home, allowing him to watch the kids. Most of the stories revolve around standard family issues such as bad grades, dating and missed curfews, though over time the series did address serious topics like drunk driving, teen suicide and peer pressure. In 1988, Maggie gave birth to a daughter, Chrissy (Ashley Johnson), and the family also took in a homeless teenager -- Luke (a young Leonardo DiCaprio). As the series progressed, Mike found himself taking on more responsibility as a teacher and eventually fell in love, Carol began her studies at Columbia University and Ben began to turn into another version of Mike. Much of the series' success can be attributed to Kirk Cameron's status as a teen heartthrob, gracing the covers of various magazines in the late 1980s.

There is no doubt that growing pains will be the next nig hit on NAN. The show did well originally, and hasn't been aired in awhile, so will do extremely well: the next Full House.

The thing I don't like is that they are just telling us now, 2 weeks after it premieres. They really have to jump on top of things.

RBryanA, Nick at Nite is really very slow right now since Nickelodeon has taken over. The Roseanne marathon has not been announced yet, so I can't say anything. But it seems that is a go, with Growing Pains delayed. That is why I'm asking what they are saying "on-air" regarding the show now. Do they still have on-air scrolls saying Jan. 21 or promos saying Jan. 21? Jan. 21 doesn't seem likely at all now.

When was the last promo? If it's delayed hopefully it's not too far off?And the promos will start popping up again.

I say we all chip and buy some dynamite for Nick at Nite's playback machines. Them and their broken record programming.

How long has Pains aired on PAX? I see they are up to 1988 eps.

Nickatnite.com's schedule is saying that Growing Pains will not start next Sunday. Also it says there is a Roseanne week-long marathon Monday, Jan. 22 - Sunday, Jan. 28, Mon-Thu 9pm-6am, Fri-Sat 10pm-6am and Sun 9:30pm-6am (with a Nick News Special at 9pm).

Why haven't you mentioned these changes Pavan?

How many damn Roseanne marathons can they air?! Holy crap!

When I watched NAN 20 years ago as a kid, there were never this many changes. Horrible. Thank You Pav for the update.

I for one am going to take advantage of the Roseanne marathon. Lately, they have'nt been showing Roseanne as often as the other 3 shows, so maybe this marathon will draw viewers back.

I wonder why the Growing Pains Marathon has been delayed. I just wish NAN would make up their minds, and start giving us stuff to look forward to.

Nick at Nite never fails to tick me off. The minute they get a good show in a good timeslot that hasn't been really overplayed, they go ahead and play what is by far their worst show ever for an entire week before they add the new show. Typical nick at nite I guess. I won't be watching that week. I'll just keep watching Growing Pains on pax until it finally starts on nick at nite. Oh, and to answer the question, Growing Pains started on pax in late November, and went to its regular timeslot a few weeks later.

If you haven't noticed, the marathon is a little different. Each day a different season will be airing. Monday will be season 1 episodes, Tuesday will be season 2 episodes, etc. Each day 9 episodes will air, and those same episodes will repeat. I wonder why they are doing it like this.
