It is a shame that older actresses get kicked to the curb. Along with Meredith Baxter Birney is a great actress Linda Lavin, Nancy Dussualt, Anne Schedeen (ALF) and Valerie Harper are great as well and you don't see them on the airwaves hardly. Another one come to think of Bonnie Franklin.

Yeah what's up with that. I have a theory about why it happens but I best not say it in a public forum, it's a conspiracy theory ... Hahhaa but I think it's true.
