LOS ANGELES (AP) - Sally Struthers felt like she'd won an award when she was offered a role in a new cable television movie about small-town values. "I went crazy," she said, citing family values, love and the struggle between good and evil as her favorite themes.
Growing up in Portland, Ore., the Emmy-winning actress was taught at an early age to share everything.
"Nothing is just for you. Everything you have has to be easily given to others," Struthers said. "Traditional values are what I'm made up of and I'm surprised by people that don't have that same feeling about others."
The 58-year-old actress co-stars in "What I Did For Love," airing Saturday on the Hallmark Channel. Struthers plays a nosy aunt whose niece returns with her new fiance to her small hometown, where tradition calls for him to seek her parents' consent to the marriage.
Struthers, best known for her Emmy-winning role as Gloria in the 1970s hit "All in the Family," has a recurring role in the CW show "The Gilmore Girls."
