View Full Version : Justine in new drama
JoPol_wannabe 12-08-2006, 06:35 PM Hi I am kind of new to the family Ties board I do post on other boards and I do come and read the posts on this board but this is my first time posting here. Well the reason I am posting is beacuse I love family Ties and Justine Batmen is my favorite character fallowing is of course Michael J. Fox. But I have been watching this new drama called Men in Trees and I noticed that Justine is in it and she plays the leading man's (Jack) Ex. She is still such a good actress and she looks very pretty I always thought she was pretty looking. I just wanted to let all you Justine fans know if you didn't already know that she is on the new drama Men in Trees. If you don't watch the show or haven't heard of it but want to watch now it's on ABC Thursday's at 10/9 Central.

kimonajaye 12-11-2006, 09:44 PM I love me some Family Ties, I was the biggest fan back in the day even got an autographed photo of the family but I don't know whatever happened to it. I wish I still had it, maybe it would be worth something.
Ollie G 01-03-2007, 11:47 AM Dat's the only reason why I watch ABC & Men In Trees because of my girl Justine.
crystals 01-11-2007, 01:14 AM I didn't know she was on that show. I'm going to check that show out the next time it's on. I also like her acting. I haven't seen much of her work other than "Family Ties", "Satisfaction" and "Another Woman".
Thanks for posting this and letting me know. :)

Scoobiedoo30 01-15-2007, 03:12 PM I know my mom told me I am glad she is back on TV again
Family Ties Forever! 01-16-2007, 04:17 AM See photo gallery for pictures (from abc.com) of Justine playing 'Lynn' from the show MIT:
canuckkidd 01-16-2007, 03:27 PM Unfortunately, I have not been able to catch any of the episodes but judging from the pictures Justine looks great. :) I am counting down the days for season 1 to be released.
I've been watching Men in Trees since it first aired and its a pretty good show. It reminds me a little bit of Northern Exposure. Maybe with the addition
of Justine, it will bring in more viewers.
Family Ties Forever! 01-27-2007, 11:32 PM This isn't new information, but I just came across it:

Casting News: Family Ties Vet Climbs Trees
Eskim-yo, Mallory! Justine Bateman is joining ABC's Men in Trees in the recurring role of a down-to-earth wildlife photographer ex-girlfriend of Jack's (James Tupper) who returns to Elmo with "startling news," an ABC rep tells TVGuide.com.
I've been watching the last few episodes of MIT. It's a good show. I think Justine is doing a great job as Lynn. :)

Family Ties Forever! 02-11-2007, 06:08 AM I added pictures the photo gallery.
Family Ties Forever! 02-19-2007, 04:56 AM I'm not sure how many more episodes Justine will be in. "SPOILER" I read a question/answer session for Men In Trees somewhere online and a bunch of people don't like the Lynn character. They don't want the Lynn character to stay. They don't want that character together with the Jack character. They want the Marin and Jack characters together. I guess I'm in the minority because I like Justine's character and I like the Jack and Lynn characters together rather than the Jack and Marin characters together. The creator, Jenny Bicks, of the show (the one who answered the questions) mentioned that viewers didn't have to worry that the Jack and Marin characters will end up together. Perhaps not right away, but that they will. This ultimately means that the Lynn character only has a limited time on the show. I think it's a shame that Justine won't be a permanent cast member. :( I wish I had known about the question and answer session ahead of time because I would have submitted my opinion and I would have asked if there was any chance that they could keep the Lynn character on the show. It's kind of disappointing that I got into liking the show and the reason I originally tuned in won't remain as part of the show.

I totally agree with you I like Jack and Lynn together better then Marion and Jack to I'm kind of sad there not going to keep them together because I think Marion should hook up with Cash he is way cutter then Jack anyways. I really don't want Justine to quit the show I was hoping she would stay on and maybe next year they would have her as a main character.

Justine Bateman Gives Men in Trees a Good Shake
by Margy Rochlin
Justine Bateman, Men in Trees
In a candid TV Guide interview, former '80s teen star Justine Bateman opens up about making mayhem on ABC's Men in Trees (Thursdays at 10 pm/ET), her kids, and... knitting sweaters for Courtney Love?!
TV Guide: How did you land the role of Lynn on Men in Trees?
Justine Bateman: This is going to sound so made up, but I was on an airplane and [series creator] Jenny Bicks was also on the plane. We didn't have a conversation. She saw me, called my agents and said, "Oh, can she play Lynn?"
TV Guide: Lynn was a character on the show before we even met her. She was discussed for months, right?
Bateman: Yeah. Sometimes in theater, they'll talk about your character a lot before you enter, but that rarely happens in television. Lynn was mentioned in almost every episode up until I came in [last November]. Lynn had the best intro of any character I've ever had.
TV Guide: As in Lynn — nature photographer and longtime resident of Elmo, Alaska, who is pregnant but not with her boyfriend's child?
Bateman: [Laughs] Even though Lynn's the type to travel the world or go camping for a year and not have anything tie her down, I think she's decided, "I'm ready for this next phase of my life." It's like a switch got flipped. She's even going to have a baby shower.
TV Guide: Where does that leave poor Marin?
Bateman: Well, Jack is the love of Lynn's life, and Lynn is the love of Jack's life. He's very grounding to her, and she's very exciting and com*fortable to him. So if anyone has a person they have this amazing chemistry with and it didn't work out and there wasn't any closure... what if that person were to come back? What would you do? Wouldn't you want to see that played out?
TV Guide: You and James Tupper, who plays hunky biologist Jack, are great together.
Bateman: It was great pretty immediately with him. When there's an instant chemistry or comfort, you just go with it. You nurture it. It makes your job so much easier.
TV Guide: His chemistry with Anne Heche is steamy, too. Has Anne mentioned your chemistry with James to you? Have you guys compared notes?
Bateman: Has she mentioned our chemistry? Oh, I don't know. I think she has great chemistry with him, too. Maybe James just has great chemistry with everyone! If the whole cast is there at the same time, it's like a party.
TV Guide: Why?
Bateman: The cast is full of really neat people. Like Emily Bergl [a celebrity blogger for TVGuide.com] — she has a fondue club. They get together and make fondue and share recipes. The last time I talked to her, she was like, "Can I call you right back? I'm brewing beer." She was brewing beer in her house! And John Amos? He's so cool, a legend. He lives on a boat in Mexico.
TV Guide: You have two kids, ages 3 and 4, with your husband, real-estate developer Mark Fluent. Which version of Mommy would you prefer they see: the accidental parent on Men in Trees or airhead Mallory Keaton on Family Ties?
Bateman: They're not interested in anything I've done. They're interested in, like, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go! or Cinderella.
TV Guide: In 2000, you took a break from acting to create a successful line of rocker-chick clothing [see justineb.com]. Courtney Love is a fan. What did you make for her?
Bateman: I made her this spider-web sweater. It has a very irregular knit with elas*ticized wool so it looks like a shriveled-wool, torn-apart sweater for an 8-year-old. But when you stretch it over your torso, it looks really neat. When I got into [design*ing], there were just a few celebri*ties doing clothing lines. I think Kathie Lee Gifford had a line at Wal-mart, and Monica Lewinsky had a line of handbags.
TV Guide: When your daughter becomes a teenager, will you make her clothes? She'll think she has the best mother ever.
Bateman: Maybe. Or maybe she'll hate me. Isn't that the time you turn on your mother? I'm going to be in another city when my kids are teenagers. I'll be like, "Give me a call when you're done with all that."
Family Ties Forever! 04-07-2007, 03:02 AM MIT was supposed to return this coming Thursday (April 12th), but a new show will be debuting in it's place. It's unclear right now if the remaining five episodes of this first season of MIT will air this spring or if they will be placed on hold until the second season this fall. If it doesn't air until Sept. it will be a 7 month hiatus (since Feb.) for the show which is a long time to not be on the air.
