Unfortunately, for all the hard work teachers do, they get paid crap. That's why teachers have gone on strike and demanded better wages because they don't get paid well. I don't understand how the very people who teach us to read, write and so forth, are not paid better. Why didn't Julie work? They didn't have kids??? at least not yet they didn't. Also, she could have gotten out of that damn apt. (by working) instead of being cooped up in there all damn day.

There weren't that many 5,000 square foot loft apartments in 1970's Brooklyn.

Like I said, Julie should have gotten off that a$$ of hers and gotten a job, so that we didn't have to sit there and watch her boring a$$ in that dinky apt.

I have to agree with you. What gets me is that she was home all day and looked bored, and the last season, she became the Sweathog's teacher. Now that was phony and not smart writing.

Thank you. I don't recall it ever being mentioned that she had a teaching degree. So how the hell can she teach high school????? Stupid writers. Those writers were as bad as the ones on Good Times.

Julie not having a job (before the babies came along) always bothered me! It was the 70's after all, and by then, a lot more women were working! And later, to have her go from doing nothing, apparently without going to college, to suddenly being a teacher was stupid.

They should have had her working at a place where teenagers liked to hang out (like a record store or a fast food joint) to open up more storylines for the sweathogs!

Most TV shows make NYC apts look like mansions. The reality is that most NYC apts are quite small!

It was indeed tiny but so was our first apartment in the 70's so I can relate.
Also Mr. Kotter didn't exactly teach in the best school so he probably made
low wages and couldn't afford anything bigger.
