I taped the episode you're talking about. It's the second Happy Days christmas episode. This aired in 1978. It's the same episode where Fonzie receives a christmas present from his estranged father, Vito Fonzarelli, whom Howard Cunningham has very little sympathy for for abandoning his responsibilities to be a father to Fonzie. Fonzie snaps out of his hurt frustration when Mr. C explains Fonzie isn't responsible for Vito's abandonment issues. The picture is shot after Potsie, Ralph and finally, Al bring christmas trees to the Cunningham house, eventually making a make-shift forest of christmas trees in the living room.

Actually, it was the third Christmas episode - "Christmas Time" from the sixth season.
