I really don't see the similarities between the two, other than both families were Black. JJ was definitely no Walter Younger and Thelma wasn't Beneather. But to answer your other question, Yes, Michael was performing on Broadway in the musical "Raisin".

Both families live in Chicago, both families have a son sleeping in the living room (just around Michael's age), Beneatha has an African boyfriend, (Thelma and Ibe), Mama is very religious.

It just had a similar feel to me.

Ok, I see your point. I was speaking in terms of the family's characteristics. But I can see where your similarities fit in.

I saw the movie last year in English and I was thinking a long the same lines.
