View Full Version : Who else thinks grocery shopping is the ABSOLUTE WORST chore???

I hate it! :barf: I know people here have voted doing laundry, cleaning the bathroom, and washing the dishes as the worst household chores, but I would gladly do all three over going to the grocery store any day of the week. It's especially awful during busy times.

My biggest customer-related peeves are those clueless parents who let their kids run through the store screaming, people who are totally oblivious to the fact that there are other people in the store and stand there blocking shelves or aisles, bozos who wait until AFTER the cashier has rung up their $250 order to go hunting for the checkbook, people who leave their trash anywhere but the trash barrel, people who scream at the cashier because they actually have to wait in line for a few minutes, and morons who go through the express line with more than the limit. I could go on and on.

I only have one really big employee-related pet peeve. (I worked in a grocery store for a few years, so I strongly sympathize with the employees.) I cannot stand it when the kid bagging my order cannot be bothered to even try keeping my perishable items together, my bread from getting crushed by a bottle of juice, or the cleaning supplies and laundry dryer sheets away from the food. I'm so tempted to call the manager over to give the kid a lesson on proper bagging procedures. I know I could do it myself, but why should I? I'm inadvertently paying this kid's salary by doing my shopping at that store. Why can't they bag groceries correctly?

I love grocery shopping, just as long as I go at like 2:00 am when there's hardly anyone there. It's actually one of my favorite things to do!! If it's the daytime, and there's alot of people though, I hate it.

I agree with these guys! I LOVE grocery shopping...I don't know why...I'm one of those who walks up and down the aisles just seeing what's there. I used to go like in the middle of the day, but I worked at Kroger's for awhile, and when I noticed that NO ONE came late I night, such became my new shopping time :)

I LOVE GROCERY SHOPPING.

It's putting the stuff in the SUV, getting the bags out of the car and putting all that stuff away that is bullsh*t!!!!!!!

I also hate going to the post office and the gas station.

that's what I do too... i walked up and down all the aisle and just shop. I love it. But I HATE unloading the groceries and putting them up... if i could just shop for the groceries, and pay someone else to put them up, that's be great!

I redo their ****ty bagging job in front of them. I'm evil. But I'm not leaving the toilet bowl cleaner in the bag with the crackers.

But despite the annoying customers and whatnot, I still like grocery shopping. :)

I would gladly do your grocery shopping if you want to do my laundry, Clean the washroom and pick up the rest of the chores (I like my fish tanks cleaned every 2 weeks please).

As a kid money was tight so now that I can shop for myself I load up at the grocery store, got enough at home to last through a disaster easily.

Yeah...you're right there....not a huge fan of the putting away of groceries lol...

I redo their bagging, too, but I generally do it at my car as I load them in there...but that's kinda mean, too, cause then I'm holding up a parking space!

I LOVE going to the grocery store at really late hours, like 2am or later. Even past 4. It's cozy and fun.

I really dislike putting away items from the store, but buying the stuff sure is great. I love food, so I love buying it. Plus, just being in the grocery store is fun.

I always put non-food in separate bags, and I separately bag different kinds of raw meat. We had a customer though that hated that she just wanted us to put all if her stuff in the same bag. It was gross, putting chicken and bleach and stuff all together and if you even tried to at least put the chicken in sepatate plastic bag first she'd get all pissed.

I actually don't mind grocery shopping (Christmas shopping on the other hand... ). I guess I like the fact that I can purchase whatever I want for the house when I'm going the grocery shopping...
