View Full Version : Politically Correct "Holiday" Greeting
Janice 12-06-2006, 12:30 PM Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, our best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.
We also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2007, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great.
Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. And without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.
By accepting these greetings you are accepting these terms. This greeting is subject to clarification or withdrawal. It is freely transferable with no alteration to the original greeting. It implies no promise by the wisher to actually implement any of the wishes for herself or himself or others, and is void where prohibited by law and is revocable at the sole discretion of the wisher.
This wish is warranted to perform as expected within the usual application of good tidings for a period of one year or until the issuance of a subsequent holiday greeting, whichever comes first, and warranty is limited to replacement of this wish or issuance of a new wish at the sole discretion of the wisher.
Janice 12-06-2006, 12:32 PM I found that on the web. Personally, I prefer....
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and May God Bless You! :tree:

Sharop 12-06-2006, 02:14 PM Well, it's about time we have a politically correct greeting! The old "Merry Christmas" one has outraged me for years. I can't believe that people have the nerve to use it.
Thank goodness for this new and improved version! :)
FOLrocks1 12-06-2006, 04:56 PM Merry Christmas everyone LOL. I'd much rather say that to someone than Happy Holidays.
Lex Luthor 12-06-2006, 05:24 PM I found that on the web. Personally, I prefer....
Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and May God Bless You! :tree:
That gets my vote, if someone is offended by me telling them Merry Christmas that is THIER problem not mine. It is meant as a sign of good will so take it as that or TFB for them.
phoebe7165 12-06-2006, 05:28 PM PC bites, so
MERRY CHRISTMAS, everybody!!!!
Mr. Cranky 12-06-2006, 08:22 PM Funny stuff. The pathetic thing is that even though this is a satire, some maniacs actually subscribe to that bullcrap. Think ACLU.
This past Saturday, we had our annual office "Winter Celebration."
Sigh.
DOPEY85xxx 12-06-2006, 09:10 PM Happy Holidays .
EmoJoe 12-06-2006, 09:43 PM MERRY CHRISTMAS!
tdf4077 12-06-2006, 09:51 PM As someone who comes from a mixed-religious family (my sister's Jewish), I personally don't get offended if someone wishes me a merry christmas, happy kwanza, or anything else! they're trying to be nice...not force their religion on me! I wish people could just relax, espcially during the spirit of the holidays...'cause no matter what religion you are or aren't, the feeling is the same: take care and be happy.

swedeace 12-09-2006, 05:50 PM Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year is fine with me! And, I will continue saying it.
If someone told me Happy Chanukah, then I would wish them back a "Chanukah" or Kwanzaa or whatever. I won't change or force any individual's greeting as long as they won't change or force my greetings. I'll respect anyone's greeting if they respect mine. Period.
tdf4077 12-09-2006, 06:04 PM See, I used to work at the zoo for their Christmas display, and the first year, I made the mistake of saying Merry Christmas, and this guy just completely YELLED at me, so ever since then, I'm cautious (and wish everyone to be happier and relaxed)

But that's the point you see.......RESPECT is what's missing in today's "neat" world. Full stop.
Central Perk 12-12-2006, 07:29 PM Happy Hanukkah!
dragster58 12-14-2006, 03:05 PM As the Italians say: "BUONE FESTE"!!
