Do schools have parents sign tests that their children took (or failed) anymore? When I was in school (I graduated high school in 1990) I never had to have my parents sign tests, but in elementary school (up until 1984, or when Happy Days ended :D) I had to get the signature of at least one parent on my report card for each quarter. (I forget whether I needed one for the final quarter, but I digress.) When I entered junior high the next year all of my report cards were computer-printed.

No, I don't remember my parents having to sign for tests. I don't think they do those anymore if they did that... :wave:

I use to have them signed in elementary school but I didn't after that. That was in the late 70's. I graduated in 1984.

My daughters Middle school still have us sign occasional tests. I asked my daughters why I had to sign tests even when they get A's and they say it is so the kids who do poorly are not embaressed to be singled out. The only thing I remember my parents signing back in the 60's when I went to school were report cards.

Sure, for junior high students and under, and I suppose some high schools.

And report card signatures are a must, as well.

It's also possible that a teacher may require a parental signature when a student receives (earns) a grade that's far below his/her normal ability/results.

Greg was (of course) a straight-A student in math, and Linda might not have wanted his parents to be surprised when report cards came around so, in effect, she forced Greg to admit to them that he was not doing well...the "F" that Greg got on the test was apparently the straw that broke the camel's back, as his grades had been slipping for quite a while. Linda explained to Mike that she'd tried 'everything' to get through to Greg, not realizing that she was DEFINITELY getting through to him, just not in the way she'd hoped.

She simply felt she had no choice but to force Greg to confess to his parents, hoping they'd have an answer...which Mike did, of course...introducing Greg to Wes Parker, along with the promise of tickets to the season opener if his grades improved.

All teachers do it differently. Some like all tests signed, no tests signed, or just failing grades signed, but like I mentioned, it's rare in high school for tests to be signed at all (just RP's).
