When Tootie and Jeff break up, it's a pretty big deal (at least i would think so) for crying out loud she almost slept with the boy... so then why is it that it goes straight into the cruisin episode where Tootie is having a great time. It just seems so weird that there is no real "wallow" period for Tootie. You would think a break up like that is bound to hurt for a couple weeks. I had a friend who just broke up with his long term girlfriend (for almost the same reason) and he was crushed for at least a week (couldn't eat or sleep) and he is still hurt over it but getting on with the day to day activities and going out with friends... still hurts him though. So my question is this... why doesn't the break up mean more to her than the show makes it seem? It's like an episode is missing... hmm... (ponders) great, now i have a fanfic idea and i'll almost have to write it too!

WELL, IT TOOK YOUR FRIEND A WEEK TO START GETTING THINGS BACK TO NORMAL, AND SO BY THE NEXT WEEK, TOOTIE WAS READY TO START CRUISIN;)

BUT THAT'S OK, WE ALL KNOW TOOTIE ENDED UP MARRYING JEFF, AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER...UNTIL DISNEY DECIDED TO KILL HIM OFF, THAT IS:( THEY NEVER DID MENTION HOW HE DIED, BUT I HAVE A THEORY. OK, FOLLOW ME ON THIS:

WHEN THEY DECIDED TO KELL JEFF OFF, WHICH I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAD TO DO THAT (I GUESS THEY WERE TRYING THAT, THOSE ARE "THE FACTS OF LIFE" THING), COULDN'T THEY GET A MORE FLATTERING PICTURE OF HIS REPLACEMENT IN THE PIC? THAT GUY LOOKED LIKE HE LIVED UNDER LOWER WACKER DRIVE. (NO OFFENSE TO ANY UGLY, HOMELESS PEOPLE:lol: JUST KIDDING) DAX, I KNOW YOU'LL GET THE REFERENCE. MEANING THE LOWER WACKER DRIVE THING, NOT THE UGLY THING:D

THE GUY IN THE PICTURE DIDN'T LOOK ATHLETIC AT ALL, AS JEFF DID WHILE IN COLLEGE! LOOKS MORE LIKE HE ATE THE REAL JEFF:eek:

HENCE, THIS IS HOW HE REALLY DIED: :ufo:AN ALIEN CAME DOWN, ATE TOOTIE'S JEFF, THEN POSED AS HIM, TOOTIE NEVER BEING THE WISER, BECAUSE SHE WAS SOOO WRAPPED UP IN HER "WAKE UP WITH DOROTHY" SHOW; AND OF COURSE SHE WAS ALSO BUSY PREPARING FOR HER ONE WOMAN SHOW, "I'M WAITING FOR MY CLOSE UP, MR. DEMILLE".

ONLY THING IS, TOOTIE THOUGHT "HER JEFF" DIED WHEN TWO UNIDENTIFIED "MEN IN BLACK" SHOT HER HUSBAND. SHE NEVER COULD EXPLAIN WHAT ALL THAT GOO WAS, THEREFORE, SHE NEVER SPOKE ABOUT THIS INCIDENT, OR HOW HER JEFFY DIED AGAIN!:barf:

(OOOH, I JUST THOUGHT OF ANOTHER 6 DEGREES OF SEPARATION BETWEEN KIM & WILL INCIDENTALLY)

I think that the fact that Tootie got over Jeff so quickly is because in television stories from one episode verly seldomly spill over into other episodes. In a way that is what is great about television. That everyone's problems are solved in a half an hour or hour's time. I think that helps take us all away from reality for a while. The reality that our real life problems take much, much longer to solve or get over.

And about Lower Wacker Drive?

In an earlier episode, they devoted then entire show to Blair's post-Cliff feelings and how she was dealing with her break-up. Not sure if they did this with any of the other girls. I mean, Jo and Eddie had a history of being together so when he re-appears, it feels like they are showing how Jo has evolved since they last saw each other. As for Natalie, she had the break-up with the guy in the calendar, remember? I think she had moved on too by the next episode.

good point, jo should have had a mourning period as well... eddie was an EXTREMELY serious boyfriend... they almost married and planned to in the future! Well, the thing is that it seems that there are other comedy shows that always carried stories through, and break ups were a big thing to deal with, like in boy meets world, when topanga and cory break up... he deals with it in an episode by drinking.... in growing pains, carol deals with not really the break up but the death of her boyfriend (so that spills over into other episodes) i love the lessons in FOL, but sometimes i wish that things spilled over into other episodes, and they showed repurcussions of hard things in life too :)

Yeah, but remember the relationship between Cory and Topanga on Boy Meets World is one of the foundations of the show. That isn't the case with the relationships between the Facts girls and their boyfriends. Even the Jo/Eddie relationship was only played out in a couple of episodes.

I agree. It isn't always "one week" in between episodes. You have to assume that some major time has passed by on a series. The only time you would expect the next episode to be right after the previous episode is when it is a two-parter.

Well, not exactly a couple of episodes--yes, therre was the two parter where they almost married, then there was Eddie being jealous of Jo's study partner (and she ends up giving his ring back, but he wouldn't take it back) and then of course, the episode where he comes back to town and rekindles the romance only for Tootie to discover he is married to another woman.

Yep, you are right. ;)
