Well they didn't know that it was going to be their last episode. I think that the network should have let them come back to shoot a finale episode.

I think we all agree that they did deserve a final ep, they were on the air about 11 years, that was the least the network could have done

It happens all the time in the TV industry. Fox cancelled Married with Children and moved them to Saturdays during their last season. And this show was the only original series left from the first season of Fox when it started. I guess they milk you until you run dry.
