Those of you who are/were in the New York area undoubtedly remember the WPIX Yule Log, a yearly program of Christmas music played as a roaring log burned. It marks its 40th anniversary this year and WPIX is celebrating with an expanded, restored 3 hour edition as well as a one hour special "The Yule Log: A Log's Life."

So what does this have to do with the Honeymooners?

It's actually a wonderful piece of channel 11 trivia. In 2001, when WPIX decided to bring back the show after a several year hiatus, they searched frantically for the footage of the log only to find it hiding in their NJ archives in a film cannister labelled "The Honeymooners: A Dog's Life." Hence, the name for the special.

Since the original airing, WPIX has become a superstation and appears on cable thoughout the country. The show has also been syndicated to other Tribune Broadcasting stations across the country, including WGN. Here's a link to WPIX's press release about the log's 40th:
