View Full Version : what was this show about? treky 11-30-2006, 02:31 AM anybody? Because I'm thinking of renting 1 or 2 of the DVDs. TV Knowledge Fan 12-04-2006, 08:22 PM ...Joey is still sticking to his intent of releasing seasons two three and four, and omitting the first one (1961-'62). I've seen one episode from season one....and it was a season in turmoil. Marlo Thomas came and went, with about half the cast....... When the series returned in the fall of 1962, IN COLOR (making it only one of two comedies on NBC in "Living Color" at the time; "HAZEL" was the other), "Joey Barnes" was hosting a late-night talk show in New York {the "old" Joey had been a press agent's assistant in season one before he got his own talk show at the end of that season}, and had just gotten married to "Ellie" [Abby Dalton]. Somehow, his home life and work life always seemed to collide, with celebrities dropping by, and constant misunderstandings with his agent [Guy Marks] and his best friend "Dr. Larry Corbett" [Corbett Monica], and.....do yourself a favor, 'treky', and get the first volume. It might not be in the same league as "THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW" and "THE DICK VAN DYKE SHOW", but it's close!! :tv: Eric Paddon 03-28-2007, 09:17 PM Never mind intent, does he really still want to get them released and if so will he find a new vendor? Questar was an absolute joke, especially how they would only let you see the opening titles when you loaded a disc in the machine (and they handled the lone season of Danny Thomas they released even worse with syndicated cuts). tv star collector 08-17-2007, 02:21 PM I have been watching THE JOEY BISHOP SHOW Season 2 DVD (which I found in a catalog for a real bargain price) and had forgotten how funny that show was (not having seen it since it first aired on NBC back in the early sixties). If you're looking for laughs, I highly recommend it. Unlike some other period shows, it has held up surprisingly well. I highly recommend it! |
