I think that it would be neat if they jumped out of an animation cell (in front of Matt Groening), walk past him, and walk out into the real 20th century studios lot and in a plauque say "The Simpsons has changed the face of animated television. We thank the viewers who have been so loyal to us over the years and say that this wouldn't be possible without you.
Then the FOX logo should appear like it did in the final episode of "Married With Children." That would mark the 2nd greatest FOX network success ever.

That sounds like a great way to end it.

I think they should just suddenly age 13 or 14 years rapidly...or however long the show will be on the air.

Springfield isn't in any state, sorry. They have had contradicting statements. First, it mentioned that it was in one of the states that George Bush had lived in, but in another episode (and I forgot what it said) but I explicitly remember it mentioning something about Michigan (as I said, I don't rememebr what, but I can rememebr seeing that episode a few times and thinking that), so it's just out in the middle of nowheresville.

There's a reason for that...I looked it up and there is a city named Springfield in Massachusettes, Illinois, Missouri, Virginia, Michigan, Ohio, and a TOWNSHIP of Springfield in Pennsylvania. There might be more, but these prove the point (plus I stopped looking).

Springfield can be in any one of these states, or in fact they could be using the name to their advantage and it could be a little of all of them.

there's a springfield in KY too...

You MUST factor in something too...

That state CAN'T JUST have a Springfield, it must have a Shelbyville too. (KY Does, lol....)

Two comments - first, I think there's at least one Springfield in every state of the U.S. (except, possibly, hawaii and/or alaska), and I know there are at least a couple states that have more than one.

second, What about the episode when the Simpsons are trying to decide where to go on vacation, and Homer mentions being banned for life from every state except 1(either one of the Dakota's or Florida), which would suggest that's the state they live in since he isn't banned from it, except that if that was their home state, why would they be talking about going there for vacation?

my point is that, as someone already said in this thread, Springfield isn't in any one place.

Once, on the game show GREED, they revealed that there were over 125 Springfields in the United States, which would make sense because of the different zip codes. So, Matt Groening probably used it to his advantage, since there are so many to choose from, we'll probably never know. But, Its probably near either the Pacific or Atlantic, because in one ep, they revealed that in the ocean nearby there was a krustyburger.

I think they said springfield was in kentucky. The last episode should show them all grown up.

Springfield has everything, so I would assume that it's in Maine. Because, it has mountains, an ocean, and forests.

Well, in "Kill the Alligator and Run" Homer is said to only live to be 42. He seems to be the only person in the show that ages (35-36-38, and now 39) perhaps the last episode would be Homer's 42nd Birthday and he dies. However, i dont think that the writers would want this to happen, because millions of people would be really pissed off. The end of such a long lasting comedic show should be the funniest moment ever, not a downer like the death of the main character. However, i do find it weird that Homer is still alive today.

and in "Behind the Laughter" it says that they live in Northern Kentucky, but that still doesnt explain the ocean.

I think I'd die if the Simpsons ever ended cuz I'm a Simpsons freak but they should definitely tell 1. where Springfield is (if anywhere) 2. if Smithers is gay and loves Mr. Burns (you know you want to know) and should do that one pop into the real world thing (good idea, whoever said that). Also, is Milhouse gay? Also if Gil ever gets a job and KEEPS it (car dealer, doorbell salesman...). That'd be nice 2 know.:D

Milhouse can't be gay because he likes Lisa. Remember in that one episode where Lisa was trying to make Nethers good and Milhouse was begging for Lisa to go out with him?
I also think Moe should die in one of these episodes, he's my favorite character, but he's the kind of character who should die. Yeah they should tell us if Smithers is gay or not.
I hope they don't make a last episode for a long time but when they do it should reveal all of the questions about the show and it should be like, a 1 or 2 hour special.

There have been two references made to Springfield being in Kentucky. One was during the "Behind the Laughter" episode, and in another one, somebody mentions going "south of the border" and Homer replies, "Oh, you mean in Tenneesee."

Still, the ocean?

Buddy's a by-product of the old forum software (This thread's as old as I am!), in which Guests COULD post.

if I recall, wasn't Smithers outted in the "Homers Phobia" episode? There was a scene that alluded to that he was John's partner in it

As someone who lives in KY, it is sweet to hear so much about "Shelbyville" as well. And there IS a Springfield KY
