On the Honeymooners, I always wondered why Ralf and Alice never had a baby of there own? I know they had a baby breifly on Adoption but that wasn't there own flesh and blood. I wonder if they had Ralf and Alice have a baby would that had screwed the formular up on the show? What do you thinK?

That's precisely why having a baby would not work. It would take the focus away from the main characters. Also, would anyone have thought it funny if Ralph was constantly yelling with a baby around?

There were a couple episodes that dealt with the subject, "Expectant Father" and "Pickles" for example. But like Greg said, it would've taken the focus away from the main characters, and Ralph screaming and yelling with a baby around wouldn't have been too funny. Alice's comment at the end of "Pickles" did make it seem like it was a possibility in the future though.

Thank goodness there were no kids.

What! Do you guys mean to tell me you wouldn't have enjoyed seeing little Ralphina running around that apartment? :joke: :joke:
I never liked "The Adoption" or "Lost Baby." They had thier moments that were a little funny (trying to use a glove for a nipple & getting milk every where. Which they used both times if I remember correctly.) but mostly I found them sad & very un-Honeymooner like.

Yeah, the scene in "The Adoption" where Ralph is arguing with the man that brings the ice (Frank Marth) is pretty funny, but overall both of them are more sad than funny. I compare "Lost Baby" more to the "Really Lost" sketches from the Cavalcade of Stars because it has a more gloomy feel to it than some of the other Lost Episodes.

I seen clips of it on diffrent Gleason documentiers but never seen it intirely. What is it about other then the obivous, (Lost Baby)?

The description on the back of my VHS copy says the following: "Ralph gets a taste of fatherhood when he finds an abandoned baby on the bus." In classic Ralph fashion, he attempts to keep the baby, but I'm sure you can guess how that turns out.

Yeah, I had forgotten about that part. I also got a laugh during "Lost Baby" when Norton was trying to look at the baby's tag..yanking his head forward & then there were a few times he smacked the "baby" right in the face. Glad they didn't use a real baby with those boys . Jackie was still some what thin in "Lost Baby" as well & when your use to seeing "Ralph" filling out that bus uniform it seems...off...

You should see him in the DuMont sketches with Pert Kelton. Come to think of it, that probably had to do with why the earlier Honeymooners sketches weren't as funny as the later ones...no fat jokes!

^ I totally agree! Ralph Kramden was meant to be a big Ol' teddy bear not a skinny little chicken lol.
