JJ agreed to take Clarissa to the ball on a Saturday night. He worked as an usher for a movie house. How the heck was he available on a Saturday night of all nights? Isn't that a big night for movie goers? lol

Maybe it was his night off, or he got someone to work in his place.

He could have worked that afternoon and gotten off in time for his date.

I guess those are valid points, but JJ made it seem that he was the most important usher they had and to be off on the busiest night, made no sense.

He could have requested that night off ahead of time. That's what I did when I worked in a movie theater and needed a night off. :D
