I'm dying to find more information about this photograph I found on the net several years ago. From what I can recall, it was taken by an anonymous mountain climber in Washington State in the late seventies. The original (uncropped) picture was taken from several hundred yards away, looking down the mountain. There is a spot on the background (kinda hard to see in this shot) behind the animal that is not covered in snow. I think it was implied that the creature had been laying on the ground before it snowed, and then awoke after the fact. This explains why there is snow on the animal, and not on this large spot on the ground. Also, note the long fingernails. Would a hoaxer fabricate these aspects knowing that the photo would be taken from several hundred yards away and not necessarily show such detail? Looks pretty unusual.....yeah, why would a hoaxer go to all that trouble for a picture that's hard to make out?

I don't know quite what to think. It looks like a giant monkey or ape but apes don't congregate where there's snow, do they?
