Luke is better. Chrissy is annoying.

sometimes chrissy did draw away from the main story line by her whining on any number of things... and why did they have her suddenly mature, i like it when shows let the youngens grow up. Becuase i thought the toddler version of chrissy was SOOO cute, it would have been great to see her take her first steps and talk (maybe she did that during the show and i didn't know... but anyways) it was almost as though they had maggie get pregnant to keep the viewers into the next season, and then almost immediately after maggie had chrissy the story line dropped. The occasional interlude of how it's hard to go back to work with the baby and in comes the nanny, but becuase of julie watching chrissy all of the time, there was literally no inclussion of chrissy until they brought in ashley johnson and she was all of a sudden older... it was just odd if you ask me

now onto luke, he was a great addition to the show. this is probably one of the few shows that succesfully does this type of thing and maybe it's becuase ben was the same age as luke... but most other shows realize that they just can't have the same types of stories that they used to becuase the kids in the family are no longer teenagers who often mess up at everything, so what is the solution? lets bring in a new fresh face, young (sometimes trying to replace an adorable character who has grown up) and it rarely goes well... look at these shows who tried to do this shortly before the series ended:
The Cosby Show (olivia to replace what rudy used to be)
Diff'rent Strokes (sam to replace what arnold used to be)
The Facts of Life (Pippa and Andy to replace the youth of the girls)
But this was different becuase Luke was still quite grown up, ben's age nonetheless and also with a troubled background. It was nice to see Mike have to pull together to grow up and try to act grown up... this line is often repeated in the 6th and 7th seasons by mike, "oh my god i sound like dad!!" so it was nice to have mike sort of take the father figure position, and fail at it too :)

Am I the only person here on this board who thinks Luke was a bad addition to this show.I could not stand Chrissy either but I liked her on the show more than Luke.

I am enjoying having "Pains" back on the air, but am reminded of how much I can't stand the Chrissy thing. She is annoying, weird looking, and it was so bizarre how they made her age jump about 8 years. The show is better than that. They didn't have to resort to the tactics that lame shows use.

Ashley Johnson was on an episode of "Roseanne" as DJ's girlfriend Lisa. She was still annoying.

Ashley is very pretty now though. She looked great in the 2nd Growing Pains reunion movie, back in 2004.....And like she did on Roseanne, she also pops up on a bunch of other shows, every now and then.
