I don't remember a lot of these eps, like the one where Florida ends up getting the job that James wanted, or the one where JJ is about to be left back. These are so pure in how they reflect the poverty the Evans were facing. They didn't need any gimmicks like Bookman or Penny or any of that stuff. They were just interesting.
I guess they just relied on the great characters rather than contrivances of plot.

Yes, I loved the eps with James. I started to dislike the show when Keith came on board. He was SOOO un-needed on the show, in my opinion.
