View Full Version : Big Day Premieres Tue, Nov. 28, 2006 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on ABC
BIG DAY
Tuesdays on ABC (9:00-9:30 p.m. ET); Series Premiere November 28 (9:00-9:30 p.m. ET)
Each season, the show "24" tackles one very, very bad day in the life of a special agent in charge of national security. Starting November 28 ABC will also present one very, very bad day in someone's life... a young couple's wedding day in the beautiful backyard of a family home. And while no one is defusing a nuclear bomb - they're arguing about when the salad is going to be served - the stakes (as anyone who has been through a wedding knows) are just as high.
"Big Day" tells the stories you don't see on the wedding video -- the father who sits his daughter down on the morning of her big day and tells her he really doesn't think she should marry this guy; the bitter bridesmaid older sister who sleeps with the best man and accidentally drinks his contact lenses, which he left in a glass of water on the nightstand, blinding him for the rest of the proceedings; the groomsman who's secretly in love with the groom; the tightly wound mother of the bride who intimidates the nervous wedding planner into changing the salad (the bride's choice, Caesar, is just so tacky!).

Pants79 12-01-2006, 08:24 PM Hey all, there doesn't seem to be many opinions in here yet on Big Day ... I watched the first episode Tuesday night, did anyone else? Would love to hear what you thought? I really enjoy this show, great characters, funny lines and I really love Wendie Malick playing the mother of the bride, so far, seems like a lot of fun, anyone else watching and enjoying it or not? I hope the show continues for a while, I would love to see where it's all going. :)
Wings#1ShowPeriod 12-04-2006, 04:29 PM I thought Big Day 1st episode was pretty good.. Wendy Malick is hilarious as the mother of the bride. Her and her daughter fighting about the salad was funny 2. I like the Dad character as well as the daugther but not to sure about the rest... the next episode should be interesting
ashleymeg 12-06-2006, 02:50 PM Does any know of a site that I might be able to download the first two episodes of The Big Day from and/or have the episodes that they can send me? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE I really wanted to watch this show, but apparently I don't know how to work my new DVD Recorder!
Thanks to anyone that can help
Ashley
Pavan 12-13-2006, 11:32 PM Big Day will now air for an hour each Tuesday!
Help Me Help You has been pulled (earlier than I thought it would) for back-to-back new episodes of Big Day:
Effective Tuesday, December 19, 2006, “Big Day” will air at 9:30 PM ET/PT time period until further notice.
“Big Day” will also on continue to air in its 9:00 ET/PT slot.
“Help Me Help You” will be on hiatus until later in the season.
So, if my count is correct, Big Day will have its last two episodes air on Tuesday, January 16, if they air two new episodes each week, which likely they will.
Wings#1ShowPeriod 12-28-2006, 04:16 PM This past Tuesday episodes were good..
The wedding planner is hilarious, I can't get enough of her character.
Wendy Malick continues to make the show enjoyable. The bride sister plays her part good. I do hope ABC airs the remainder episodes.
Wings#1ShowPeriod 01-15-2007, 09:52 PM I hope ABC does air the final 2 episodes on January 30th..
Scoobiedoo30 01-19-2007, 12:13 AM I am glad they are showing Back To Back episodes
robyrob 01-19-2007, 12:49 AM I hope ABC does air the final 2 episodes on January 30th..
looks like thats what they are going to do - I had thought that I had missed it somehow, but I guess they were trying to avoid putting it up against Idol.
too bad, because for anyone that doesn't watch Idol, there was NOTHING else on.
Wings#1ShowPeriod 01-31-2007, 12:13 AM Big Day wasnt the greatest show, but I liked it. The characters were great and I hope it coems out on DVD.
ual191 01-31-2007, 03:26 PM How come they didn't show the very last episode? The Ceremony was the 2nd to last.
Wings#1ShowPeriod 01-31-2007, 06:09 PM ABC wanted to go with a Knights of Prosperity repeat, to give it more exposure.. They still should of found a way to air the 13th episode, but I hope it comes out on DVD.
ual191 01-31-2007, 06:16 PM That's too bad.....Yeah, DVD would be good....I like the ensemble cast.
I wonder if they will make another season with a different event and same cast.....I read something about a funeral but I don't remember if it was official or not.
robyrob 02-04-2007, 06:14 PM well, if ABC isn't even going to show the season finale, it doesn't bode well for a second season...
Scoobiedoo30 02-12-2007, 11:56 PM I hope that there is a second season

Short-Lived Sitcom Potpourri Pop-Out – BIG DAY (https://jacksonupperco.com/2025/09/17/short-lived-sitcom-potpourri-pop-out-big-day/)
Thoughts: Big Day (https://web.archive.org/web/20140402222324/http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/topic/3144297-big-day-24-crossed-with-father-of-the-bride/?view=getnewpost) is a conceptually gaudy single-cam that sets its entire first (and only) season on the day of its lead characters’ wedding, making the series’ situation literally the prelude to this one singular event. As with the final season of How I Met Your Mother, which also sets itself in the immediate lead up to a wedding, this is an exciting narrative hook that provides focus and either teases situation-satisfaction, or in this case, is situation-satisfaction (because it is the situation). But it’s tough to maintain a year’s worth of comedic and dramatic tension around one single big event, especially because the required pacing, though harried, makes everything feel stretched and contrived, promising plot progression as a matter of premise but slow-walking it deliberately as a matter of self-sustainment. Big Day suffers from the same speed and creative issues that Mother’s final year does, but there are some key differences.
