Love is much more than romance,but Dobie didn't initialy realize that as he tried to date any girl that caught his fancy.His main heart-throb was Thalia Meninger,but she had obligations-and the desire to marry a rich man.(Chuckle!)Dobie didn't realize until close to the end of the show's run that true love means compatability,mutual respect and trust.He did realize Zelda Gilroy was more for him than anyone else,including(maybe especialy)Thalia.In the 1988 Dobie Gillis reunion,Dobie-now a druggist,married to Zelda-told his teenage son Georgie,"I've often wondered what things would be like if I had married one of those girls I used to chase instead of your mother,but I'm glad I never really found out."
