I found this link today and was surprised at it, saying that you could buy all 8 seasons on DVD for $199.99. Does anyone know if this is for real? I know that the first season is the only official release from Paramount.

I'd be cautious, silvergirl111. Paramount owns the copyright to Laverne & Shirley, so at the very best these DVDs are bootlegs made from someone taping the syndicated shows on VHS and transfering them to DVD. As MikeL pointed out in his post, however, there is a strong possiblity that you would never receive anything.

The fact that I found two grammatical errors in the copy makes me very suspicious that this company is legitimate or reputable. The fact that they advertise "custom" art work and the fact that the DVD box looks like it's cheaply produced print work are also red flags.

If you elect to go this route, try to use Pay Pal or a very low-limit, highly regulated credit card. This ad seems eerily close to a phishing scam to me.

Good luck!

yeah, those guys are scammers - they are selling homemade copies of the dvd's just made up with fancy artwork.

I think you'll notice that some of their stuff (for other shows) has different packaging/artwork than official releases, and often are priced as much as TWICE what you can find them for in reputable stores.

There is another site, dvdavenue.tv (https://www.dvdavenue.tv/index.php) that you might want to avoid as well. I believe it is like tvdvdplanet. You're better off waiting for the official release of these shows.

the person/people who do that site have like 12 MIRROR SITES with different names

some of the sets are good some are not, BUT all are WAY OVERPRICED

they get sets from traders and then try to make them look official and charge u hundreds for them--- u can get the SAME SETS from traders in swap---

THE WORST THING IS many of the "complete" sets are NOT complete and they KNOW THEY ARE NOT, they just pretend and figure noone will check

WORST PART also , the money back guarantee only applies if its UNOPENED, so if u take the plastic wrap off and check and quality sucks-- too bad!

I ordered and received the complete set from tvplanet without an issue. With delivery it came to 220 +/-. I have not opened the cds to view any episode. I had purchased the set as a gift for my sister. My father recently passed away. We can both remember him holding his ribs with tears rolling down his face from the diner episode. I will let you know if the quality is as you predict. Too late for me. Anyone else ordered the set?

I opened the set last night after reading the information. The copies are as suspected. Although they are not terrible, it does look as if they were copied from television and then placed on a dvd. On the bottom right of the screen the "Lifetime, Real Women" network designation is displayed.

Ouch! I'm sorry that you got burned, Neubium. That stinks, and the sellers of the DVDs put themselves in a very actionable position.

Frankly, I'd be tempted to forward the website to Lifetime Real Women and let their legal team have a go at the people who sold you the DVDs. Just my .02.

AVOID bootleggers and bootleg copies! Just be patient and wait for official releases.
