Which Blank dvd brands are the Worst brands out there in todays market? Worst meaning that they Will Not play without freezing-up! Terrible picture quality. Takes Many seconds Or minutes to load before it will be ready to play. Will play one day But Not the next day!
I myself bought a vintage movie that was on a Staples brand disk. For some reason this brand seems to have given me trouble. I wonder if Staples is a Bad brand to have vintage movies on?

In my experience, if you stick with a name you know (Sony, Memorex etc) you're in pretty good shape.

some brands work better for some people

i dont prefer memorex- some do

but there are some brands that EVERYONE HATES
and people ONLY BUY at all
because they are dirt cheap

but those brands (nexxtech) etc are NOT bargains at all b/c they dont work with a flip

For some reason alot of people hate nexxtech brand but Im not sure why really. I buy them all the time and seem to work pretty good. Granted Ive had to throw a couple away but not too bad for how many Ive bought. Also I do alot of tradeing and use these sometimes and Ive never heard anything from anyone abou tthem not working or anything. The old Philips ones they had at circuit city were the only ones I kept having problems with. Anyway just wanted throw the ol' 2 cents in there. You all have a good day. Later. Jim

Prodisc S03 used to actually be pretty good, but that was years ago. Taiyo Yuden is the best! Don't even mess with the rest.

Oooppps- I forgot Verbatim, they still are pretty good, but a lot of the retail stores aren't selling them anymore. I guess Office Depot will cease selling them because of contract neg problems.

well just like Joey1727 has good luck with playo and others seem to like nexxtech, it all depends on what works for you

HOWEVER the important thing to do is remember this

if a brand works for you, but others do not like it--- then its best to reserve those for your own use and not for trading

Sorry, Maxwell stopped being good when they started making them out of Taiwan. I have to say the same for Sony, but some people say otherwise.

i think even the TAIWAN sony and maxell are better than most other brands out there, but others may see it otherwise

CMC MAG Memorex discs are ASS. The rebranded Ritek Memorex ones are fine. Impossible to tell which you're getting though.

Yes, Taiyo Yudens are dope, as the kiddies would say.

Sony, TDK, Maxell have all been brilliant for me. Never any problems. I think the Sony and Maxell ones are the best of the 3 but use Maxell as they have a good offer on over here.

As far as the Sony made in Japan vs made in Taiwan issue goes,I've heard that Sony has stated that the discs made in Taiwan are made to the same specs as their made in Japan discs for whatever that is worth.I use Sony and Verbatim only for trades and VHS conversions.I have not had any coasters with Verbatims.I have had a few with Sony but very very few.For some reason my recorder likes Staples.I picked up two 25 packs of Staples at our grand opening for 2.99 a pack just to try them out on my all purpose daily recording and they do just fine.It really depends on what you recorder likes.Quite honestly my recorder did not like Maxell.
Another thing to keep in mind is that some DVD players don't like certain brand burned discs.I have a player that hates Maxell,Memorex and some cheapo brand burned discs and sometimes won't read them at all or will lock up.It plays Sony discs flawlessly though.

my question is--- DOES IT COST THE COMPANIES MORE to make GOOD blanks than bad ones??? why make crappy media?? it must be dirt cheap to produce?
