Ok what a week. Both my dvd recorder in my computer and the one for my tv went to heck!! Due to a job change I am too broke to go out and by new ones for both so I replaced my computer one with a old 4x dvdr I had to get by for now since I don't use it that much but don't know what to do with my tv one.

I have a Toshiba RD-XS32 DVDR with a hard drive. The hard drive works great but the burner will not read any disks. Has anyone had this problem before and been able to fix it???

Here's my other question for any one who can help? I like the Toshiba because with the hard drive I can edit shows and store hours of tv until I get the time to deal with it. Could I go out and buy a cheap dvd recorder and hook that to the Toshiba, still using that to record but connect it to the new one using that to burn (does that make sense)?

Otherwise I might just have to bite the bullet and go get a new dvd recorder that has a hard drive. Any one have any suggestions on what I could get and at a reasonable price.

i would send them to you for $50 shipped

you could put one in the computer, and one in the standalone

and have an cheap fix

i bought them for a project and changed my tune

yep-- when the burner in a dvd recorder goes bad it is NOT COST EFFECTIVE to have it repaired as the laser for the drive costs more than a new drive itself!
