Yay! The release date is tomorrow! :happyface

It was worth the wait if they were able to correct a design flaw that would have aggrevated us for years to come...

...but I'm ready for them to get here already!! :)

The DVD set is very nice. Watched a few episodes yesterday, one of them being Island Of The Darned. That's one of the better episodes, some great footage there with Max and 99 running thru the jungle and having to cross a rickety wooden bridge to avoid being captured by the evil Hans Hunter.

Now that I have the DVD's, I'll probably dispose of the tapes I have of the Nick At Nite Get Smart Marathon from 1991. At the time, I thought this was something great. But come to find out later on that they aired cut episodes. When watching the uncut DVD's, you can see the scenes that Nick At Nite deleted, so their airings are worthless. The tapes are getting tossed, I need to get rid of some old junk anyway and free up some space.

I'm glad you're enjoying the sets. :) Still waiting on mine. TimeLife shipped them Media Mail, so I think it might take up to two weeks to get here. It's been a week. Maybe I'll get lucky today. Does anyone know where they shipped from?

Media mail is sometimes slow Carrie, hopefully yours will arrive soon. I believe they ship from Virginia. I don't care too much for the cardboard/phone booth box the DVD's are stored in. The sets fit too tight inside the box, and the box is a bit cumbersome to handle. I will probably toss the box and store the DVD sets on the shelf. They are nice and colorful anyway and look better in the open as opposed to inside the box.

Yeah, that's what I was afraid of. I live in western Virginia though, so hopefully I won't have to wait much longer. :)

EDIT: I went home to get lunch and found my set waiting for me! It's in perfect condition too. I can't wait to start watching!

My DVDs arrived and I am spectacularly impressed! I don't know where to begin with my praise-----this is more than I could have dreamed of back when I recorded Maximum Smart. Thanks and gratitude to all the people who obviously went to painstaking effort to put this together! :) :) :)

About the box-----yeah, it is pretty cumbersome and the DVDs are still a really tight fit despite the announcement that they were delaying the release to correct that. I agree with Lee that the DVD cases would look better (and more colorful) on the shelf without the box. One question, though...

...The DVD cases have no tops and are open to the air---- I was wondering if dust and other things would become a problem. Maybe this is a stupid question since people who buy the individual seasons won't have a box anyway.....anyone have answers?  :)

I am watching the episodes in order. Right now, I'm on "The Day Smart Turned Chicken." The picture quality is amazing! The entire dvd set is quite impressive. I can't wait to watch the rest! A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped make this dvd set possible!

@Bonsai - I'm guessing they figured people would keep them in the box to keep the dust off. I'm not sure. I like the concept of the box, but I like having the colorful cases on my shelf instead. :)

I've been watching a lot of episodes that I don't remember seeing or that I've only seen once. I used to see promos for Get Smart on Nick@Nite and would try to figure out what episode the scenes came from. I could never find the one where 99 is looking for Max over the bass drum at the Pinerovia Embassy. I finally found it when I watched "Our Man in Leotards" last night. I don't remember ever seeing that episode, but I'm glad I finally did. It was very good. I've noticed Robert Karvelas in a couple of the episodes in the first season too. It's so great to have the entire series on dvd!

Unfortunately, it's a Time-Life exclusive for a time period of one year (or more, who knows when HBO will decide to release the first season?). You can pre-order it from the link at the top of the page.
