I remember seeing the short lived sitcom"Mary"back when it aired in 1986.Nine years after"The Mary Tyler Moore Show"went off the air.

My question is,were Mary Richards and divorcee Mary Brenner not the same character?

I found the personality of Mary Brenner to be no different from that of Mary Richards.

But there could very well have been some differences that I may have missed.It's been exactly 20 years since I've seen the"Mary"series.

The formula was simular but with a totally different cast.

Gosh, I barely remember it. Care to remind me of the premise etc.?

The premise had Mary working for a tabloid newspaper The Chicago Eagle.She had her own apartment somewhere in Chicago.Her boss was Frank DeMarco played by James Farentino.The one other character I remember most,was chain smoking columnist Jo Tucker,played by Katey Sagal.
