HOLLYWOOD - Hollywood sirens Beyonce Knowles and Eva Longoria are teaming up on screen to play lesbian lovers.
The pop star and Desperate Housewives actress have been approached to star in period piece Tipping the Velvet, to be directed by Sofia Coppola.

Based on a raunchy Sarah Waters novel, it tells the tale of an 1890s music hall star and her lover.

Longoria says, "Yes it's true, we're talking about doing that. It's such a wonderful novel, a beautiful love story.

Knowles adds, "We've had Brokeback Mountain so the time is right for this divine novel to get the same treatment."

If it's true it's a very bad idea. BBC already did an outstanding adaptation of the book (which I would certainly not describe as "raunchy"), and I honestly cannot see either Beyonce or Longoria playing either of the two lead roles. For one thing, it's set in Victorian England. Maybe in adapting it they're planning on doing a modern-day American version, but if so the whole point of the story would be lost. It's just an absurd idea all the way around.

I wouldn't mind seeing Beyonce and Eva having sex LOL.
