Has anyone remember the episode where Sondra & Elvin tell Cliff & Clair that they want to drop out of school to open a camping store? Cliff had gotten Elvin a stethescope as a gift & Clair got a brief case for Sondra. Does anyone else love this episode?

I was a little irritated that Cliff and Clair was upset that Sondra and Elvin wasn;t following in their career paths. They were MARRIED and who cares if they wanted to open a Camping Store, that was their business

Very true. It's their business. However, I think when Sondra told her parents she wanted to be a lawyer, that is the reason they paid for her to go to PRINCETON. And what is wrong with Elvin opening a camping store and Sondra still becoming a lawyer? They could have done it. And it did end up that way anyways, with Sondra changing her mind.

I like how Elvin stood up to Cliff in the ep when they moved into that nasty apt-lol Cliff said-"That's My Daughter" and Elvin responded with-"and she is my Wife" and then Cliff says-'but she was my daughter first" and Elvin then says-"But she is my Wife NOW"-LOL

Oh, yea! How can anyone forget that apartment they lived in. I loved the episodes where Cliff & Claire would visit, it was unbelievable.

I thought that is was crazy that they wanted to open up that store. I was rolling. I can see why Clair was mad at Sondra. She and Cliff spent almost 80,000 dollars in that girl's education. That is 8% of a million dollars. Wow! By the middle of season five, we heard nothing more of the wilderness store. Where did they get the money to open it up as well? That is what I would like to know?

I am sure they took out a loan (with the parents' collateral of course) or probably dealt with small business administration OR borrowed $$ from the parents. Later on when Sondra was pregnant, the episode when Denise moved back home and was searching for work, Elvin offered her a position in the store, but Denise turned them down because it wasn't "music related" work.

She could have played the guitar and sang in the tent like Cliff said. LOL. She got fired from the Music Company and ended up working for that pizza place. She should have just went Sondra and Elvin for work.

Yeah, that was a funny remark by Cliff.

Should've, could've, would've...LOL

Another "smart" move by Denise.

You had to wonder if Cliff even liked Denise around this time. Almost every episode that she was in it seemed as though he had a look of disappointment on his face. There was the one episode when Sondra and Elvin were going to find a new place to live and the family was sitting in the living room and then Denise walks in:

Denise: Hi!
Cliff: (under his breath) Ohh Loord.

This would crack me up for some reason.

I loved it too. I screamed out and say Elvin show Cliff who's the boss. That episode was funny. It showed some real problems on the show and not everything is all sunny.

Then I liked how Elvin said-"Dr. Huxtable we can go back and forth all night but where is it really going to get us" And then Cliff said-"yeah you are right"

More like if Bill Cosby liked Lisa Bonet. They showed the episode yesterday where two young people were getting married (the daughter of the guy who runs the hardware place and his former friend's son)...but their fathers were feuding. In the beginning, everyone was gathered around the kitchen table near Cliff, but Denise was off to herself at the counter. I know about the ways they set up the stage to keep actors who hate each other away from each other.

I seldom laugh at this show. I watch it because it's interesting, not because it's funny. But I remember when Cliff and Claire came to Sondra's and Elvin's first apartment. I laughed so hard, that I hit my head in the wall behind the sofa. And yeah, when you've gone to Princeton, why open a camping store? That would have been a total waste of Cliff's and Claire's money. It's a good thing they later went to medicine school and law school anyway, so their fine Princeton diplomas came to use.

I also have to talk about Denise here... Yeah, she was stupid! Or no, maybe not stupid, but she was so... hyper. She changed her mind all the time and never completed anything. But I guess working in a pizza place was more up her alley than working in a camping store, like she maybe liked the atmosphere there, so that's why she chose that job instead. Or maybe she was so damn hyper, that she had already forgotten, that Sondra and Elvin had given her an offer?

That's not being "hyper," that's being fickle and flaky.

Ah, flaky! That was the word I was looking for! Sorry. English isn't my mother tongue after all.

I really cannot blame Cliff and Clair for their reactions as far as Sondra and Elvin goes. Someone also posted a comment about Lisa Bonet and Bill Cosby having issues with one another and them being kinda separated on the set during filming. I don't think that them being distant in a kitchen had anything to do with any problems with each other at all. They had a ton of scenes during her rebellious and pregnant periods where they had to have close interaction.

I love that episode. Cliff and Claire's reaction was totally rational. If I would have spent all of that money to send my daughter to Princeton and then after she graduates she decides to open up a wilderness store with her boyfriend I would make her pay me back too!.

That's true. And they hadn't gone to just any college either, but they had gone to PRINCETON! Many people in the US can open a store, but how many can graduate from Princeton? Sondra and Elvin were obviously meant to do something else than run a store.

Denise reminded me of a cousin of mine when the cousin was a teen. Even Lisa Bonet's sometimes whiny voice sounded like hers. Fortunately, the cousin grew up alot and is even married with a young son and guess what. . . . . SHE MARRIED A LAWYER!!! :p
