Bugs Bunny Show Overture, written by Mack David and Jerry Livingston

Overture, curtain, lights,
This is it--
The night of nights.
No more rehearsing and nursing a part.
We know every part by heart.
(cane flip)
Overture, curtain, lights,
This is it--
We'll hit the heights.
And oh, what heights we'll hit.
On with the show,
This is it.
(character procession)
Tonight what heights we'll hit.
On with the show, this is it!
(cane tap)
(fade--out)

Post used to sponsor the show, and a special commercial and song was added: it featured Bugs and Daffy dancing --the same footage from the opening, reedited with addition of Post cereal box and logo:

"A little bit better, a little bit better...
Start your day, with the cereals from Post..."

[ then a blank spot for the featured cereal ad of the week --then song resumes ]

"Start your day off with the MOST!
With the little-bit-better cereals, fresh from Post! "

...of the theme is "This Is It" (and was so credited in the original closing credits of the series). General Foods {Post, Tang, etc.} originally sponsored the series in prime-time [telecast in black & white] from 1960 through '62; the custom was for the star and cast to appear in "integrated commercials" for the sponsor during the program {as Andy Griffith, Danny Thomas and "The Chipmunks" (on "THE ALVIN SHOW") did in their General Foods series}. The jingle they sang at the beginning of the "Post" episodes was the one heard in all Post cereal ads at the time (as sung by Bugs and Daffy in the opening I.D.):

"Start your day a little bit better,
Start your day with the cereals from Post,
Start your day a little bit better,
Better start out with the most--
with the little-bit-better cereals,
fresh from POST!"

As I recall Bugs & Duffy walked in front of the charactors after to processtion and sang: "Tonight what heights we'll hit,
On with the show, this is it! "
