View Full Version : Horseback Riding
Janice 11-03-2006, 12:11 PM Who likes or hates it? When I was 20 years old, I was visiting my uncle in Arizona. My sisters and I went horseback riding. It was the first and last time.
They put me on this horse who was insane. It was flying like a hurricane. It actually went near a tree, and I had to duck so I wouldn't lose my head. I laugh about it now, but it was terrifying. I've often wondered why a horseback riding business used that horse. I'm sure it didn't just go nuts with me. I was crying to the guy when the ride of my life was over.
Ireneparalegal 11-03-2006, 12:13 PM Oooooh, I love horseback riding. It takes a toll on my back, but overall, I love it. When I was growing up I remember I begged my dad to buy me a horse. Good idea Irene, especially in the suburbs! LOL
Never ridden one.
I bet on a few from time to time...
;)
80sTrivia 11-03-2006, 07:10 PM I grew up on a horse farm, so I've been riding horses since I learned how to walk, so I've never been afraid of them, even though I have been thrown before (but never seriously hurt!)...

Central Perk 11-03-2006, 07:20 PM I did it once and I haven't gone back since. I wouldn't mind a horse-drawn carriage ride though.

Nice picture. Great looking horse. You look good too. :)
LuLu Rogers 11-03-2006, 10:36 PM I started riding when I was 10. I had to quit at 17 though because I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and the doctors told me I had to stop. I used to compete and everything in the English riding shows. Jumping was my favorite. Oh how I miss it! :(

Thanks, Janice...
swedeace 11-05-2006, 11:53 AM I've ridden on a horse a couple of times in the early 90s, but I haven't done it since then. I don't like horseback riding. My sister, on the otherhand, loves it.
I have a fear of heights, and I would be too shaky to get on a horse. They can sense when we are scared, so I wouldn't get on a horse again because I wouldn't want to get thrown off of one. I'm such a scardy cat to begin with.
I remember one of the times when I was riding on a walking horse, and this man was holding the horse's leash (sorry, I can't think of the proper name for this right now). This other man walking towards us was dragging this heavy chain, and it scared the horse that it sorta jumped. I was soooo scared out of my mind that it would drop me, but the man helped control the horse. Had he not been there, the horse would've dropped me. That was the last time I ever rode a horse. Never again. ohno:
Kay Scarpetta 11-05-2006, 12:38 PM I went when I was 10 and I swear, they gave me a wild horse. It bucked me off three times, ending in a nasty concussion on my part.
Plus, when the horse runs, I don't like the sensation of humping a horse. Sorry to be crude, but honestly.
For my 35th birthday my husband took me horseback riding at the stables on
Post at Fort Campbell. I'd never ridden before and bounced the whole time I
was ridding. The horse just went where he wanted to go and my husband would have to keep coming back to get us. We never laughed so hard in all our life, but I'd go again.
Dude111 09-29-2025, 01:00 PM I used to take horse riding lessons......
My instructors name was Vera.....
I got so good I was jumping over Jumps,etc....... It was scary at first!
Hawkee 09-30-2025, 02:40 AM I LOVE horses and even though i've never ever done horseback riding in my life it sure sounds wonderful. I could just see myself galloping through the beautiful Colorado Rockies on a beautiful palomino mare and looking at the amazing views. My favorite horse is a thoroughbred because they are so amazing and palominos are my second favorite horse because they are so wonderful and gentle. But every time I have seen horseback riding on TV I think it would be so relaxing and cool
Dude111 09-30-2025, 03:27 AM Do ya think its possible to ride a Zebra??
Thats a horse also isnt it?? (Just has different colours)
ThisLittlePiggy 09-30-2025, 12:10 PM Zebras refuse to be tamed and they will kick and bite to kill humans. Best to stick to horses.
