Anyone remember a story about a husband abusing his wife constantly, and their grown up boys would have to restrain their father? (I distinctly recall them tackling him to the ground and holding him down with a chair in the reinactment) I'm assuming he murdered his wife and was on the run, but i can't recall if that was the "mystery" or not.

Do you remember anything else about the segment? Anything at all. It might help jog someone's memory better.

I can picture the case you are talking about, I think it's a Lost Love one. I can't remember if the guy murdered his wife or not but it's where the kids have been sperated and searching for one another now. Possibly for one of the littliest boys although I could be confusing it with something else too

That crossed my mind too. I recall a "lost loves" segment from the early 1990s (most likely an episode from the 1991-92 season) that featured the Vest family. The father, James Vest, was known to consume alcohol, and the segment (which mentioned that he was often too drunk to work) had a reenactment in which one or more of his kids restrained him after he fought with his wife. In 1974, he shot and killed her at the tavern she was working in. He was arrested a few hours later, and was jailed for the murder until his death in 1983 (four years before UM went into production).

The Vest children had gone their separate ways. Although most of the eight or nine kids were reunited, one of them, Heath, remained unaccounted for until UM aired the story. Soon afterwards, Heath was finally reunited with the rest of his siblings.
