This movie will probably be an Oscar darling. Karen* 10-29-2006, 02:34 PM It looks freaking hilarious. Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to watch it cuz my friends aren't into that kind of humor. :( GoldenGirlsFan92 11-07-2006, 11:21 PM Did anyone see this? Was it good? Brad Russ 11-08-2006, 01:42 AM I'll probably go see it, It looks really funny. I love watching all those cowboys' reactions to him singing the Star Spangled Banner!! Cactus Jack 11-09-2006, 08:42 AM I'll probably go see it, It looks really funny. I love watching all those cowboys' reactions to him singing the Star Spangled Banner!! The previews dont even do that scene justice Its HILARIOUS!!! Superstar 11-09-2006, 10:40 AM My friends want to see it but I don't think I'd be into it. Czas na Zywiec 11-10-2006, 05:47 PM He's not really speaking Kazahk. :D Jak sie masz (Whats up) and dzienkuje (thanks) are both actually Polish. And when they subtitle him, he's really speaking Hebrew. Best movie of the year easily. Jenya 11-12-2006, 03:10 PM Russia banned it, But you could probably find it on DVD on the black market over there. Courtnee 11-12-2006, 03:33 PM heh, i have a borat button on my letterman jacket. Yooch 11-12-2006, 03:46 PM It does look funny. This movie will probably be an Oscar darling. If this movie gets picked for an Oscar, I have no faith in the "Oscar system". I saw it the other day. In one or two places it was mildly funny, but the movie is absolutely disgusting. My advice would be to save your time and money. When I heard some people in the movie theater laughing uproariously, I didn't think they were very smart people. I would've walked out, but there were too many people to crawl over. The actual movie is nothing like what you see or expect to see. Yeah, I should have read the reviews more carefully. I thought, 'it can't be that bad'. It was. Had I read the viewer critiques, I would've found out that many, many people agreed with what I just said above. Has to be one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life. No redeeming value whatsoever, not to mention how bad it makes Khazakstan and the United States look. It was awful. Cactus Jack 11-12-2006, 03:55 PM The previews dont even do that scene justice Its HILARIOUS!!! So yeah its HILARIOUS, well its not for everyone Cactus Jack 11-12-2006, 03:57 PM If this movie gets picked for an Oscar, I have no faith in the "Oscar system". I saw it the other day. I dont think youd enjoy it if you were over 55, or you just didnt have that type of sens e of humor, I saw it and is probably onme of the damn funniest movies Ive ever seen, but then again Im 17 and like any kind of humor  Cactus Jack 11-12-2006, 03:58 PM It does look funny. Cactus Jack 11-12-2006, 05:53 PM Fact is, I am over 55, which probably explains it. Yeah AllIWantIsYourClutch 11-13-2006, 08:37 PM I saw this last night...I REALLY could've done without the...incredibly proglonged awkwardly disgusting scene...But other than that, I thought it was hilarious. HA. Borat. What a guy. Dean Winchester 10-14-2007, 04:53 PM since the movie is now on television, figured to bump it. I finally saw it on HBO last night and laughed so hard that I watched it AGAIN on the West Coast feed. I think either you "get" it or you don't. For people who complain about the anti-semetism in the movie, remember that Sacha Baron Cohen is a hardcore Jew in real life. He was using Borat to show the ugliness in people. The funniest scene to me had to be the part where he runs and leaves all scared at the bed and breakfast because he's afraid the old Jewish couple turned into cockroaches. Sadly, I read that couple have had a harder time getting customers since Borat. One would think that exposure in a huge motion picture would totally get them booked up a lot more. I think if anyone should be offended by the movie, be offended by the frat boys, be offended by the rodeo crowd, be offended by the New York *******s, don't be offended by SBC, he was the only one acting (well, besides the prostitute, the cameraman and Pamela Anderson). |
