View Full Version : Bewitched set used in "Jeannie" episode?
etrueholly 10-27-2006, 04:46 PM Has anyone noticed that the Bewitched set is used in the "Whatever became of Baby Custer?"
When Larry Hagman runs over to Billy Mumy's house, the dining room, kitchen, and front doorway appear to be the Bewitched set...
TV Knowledge Fan 10-27-2006, 04:53 PM ...a lot of Screen Gems' "sitcom" sets often turned up in their other series from time to time....like Tony's kitchen turning up as Larry Tate's kitchen in a 1967 "BEWITCHED" episode....or Sam & Darrin's living room doubling as the Bellows' living room in "One Of Our Bottles Is Missing"....you never know where they might have shown up next, 'etrueholly'!

which season and episode is it shown on?
CAJeannieFan57 10-28-2006, 07:50 PM The episode, "Whatever Happened to Baby Custer", guest-starring Billy Mumy, is a first season episode - either #11 or #12.
Actually, Tony's house and Dr Bellows' house were in many other TV shows and movies. I believe the Partridges lived right next door to the Nelsons. :-)
We've got a page on our website about where else some of these buildings and props have been seen. The page is called "Deja Vu" on our website.

treky 10-28-2006, 09:44 PM another time, Tony quit NASA and took another job; in an office, and it was Darrins office!
And in a couple of the black-and-white episodes; the Stevens house can be seen in the background. (at least, the exterior. The interior scenes were fimed on a soundstage, same with IDOJ)
TV Knowledge Fan 11-13-2006, 07:32 PM Screen Gems constantly reused a LOT of sets and props between their various shows because it was simply a matter of economics to reuse a "standing set" (with slight redressing) from one series to another. The famous "Columbia Ranch" suburban street was the focal point of virtually every one of their sitcoms, from "FATHER KNOWS BEST" to "THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY". Look closely at the backlot "city street" at the beginning of "Have You Heard the One About the Used Car Salesman?" [11/4/68]. One of the "businesses" on the block is identified as "Carpenter Realty". That was part of one of the recurring plotlines in the short-lived Screen Gems series of the previous season, "THE SECOND HUNDRED YEARS" (1967-'68). Luke Carpenter's grandson (Monte Markham) owns a realty firm, of which some of the plots swirled around, and the front of the office was seen a few times on that generic "city block". The sign was still on that "storefront" when the "JEANNIE" episode was filmed. Likewise, when the "Monkeemobile" was seen parked on a city street in a "MONKEES" episode in late 1966, the "Baxter Realty" sign from the last season of "HAZEL" was still hanging nearby!
There are more examples, but you get the idea......
ClassicTVGal 01-27-2007, 01:22 AM Yes, *definately* noticeable! LOL It is interesting. And there is even one ep, can't remember which one at the moment, where in IDOJ you can see The Stephen's house exterior in a shot.

that's in more than one episode; I've noticed it in 2 of the black and white episodes. It can be seen in the background of one scene in the episode where Jeannie blinks her uncle into the present to show Tony something. It's in the scene where Tony's talking to Jeannie while she's sitting in the car.
The 2nd time is in the episode where Jeannie blinks another house across the street from them. In one scene; Dr. Bellows and the General are walking down the street and they pass in front of it.
