The Day After is a gripping new series about what happens to a group of 5 life-long friends the day after they graduate from College and begin to enter the "real world", will their friendships survive as all 5 take radically different journeys? This series uses special narratives from the characters (think like Once & Again) as well as classic style voice-overs to help move the story along....

This group of friends includes:

23 year old Brian Gentry, a life-long slacker who has spent his life narrowly getting by on charm and his ruggedly handsome good looks... Upon completing his college education; which took longer than it should have, he got a B.A. in Communications after 6 years in school, due to lots of partying and slacking off Brian is about to enter the real world, as he takes on his first real job; working as a Production Assistant on the local morning news show that his wealthy father is the Co-Host of.... Aside from dealing with having a job and his overbearing, and non-compassionate father Brian is going to be dealt a blow when his girlfriend of 8 years, Shelly tells him that it's over and also reveals some other news that will either send brian to the break of a total mental breakdown or will propell him to achieve new heights fo success... Shelly Williams is a 26 year old who recently got her degree in Business Finance and who is the youngest ever executive to work at Farley, Hollis and Associates, an upscale Manhattan Accounting firm that she has just gotten hired at... Shelly is going to face some tough advisaries at this job, as not only is she the youngest executive they've ever had, she is also the first women to ever work their... She's going to come across a whole lot of upset middle aged men who think that she stole a job they were supposed to get, even though in reality she's more qualified than they'll ever be... Oh, and when after one week she gets the biggest promotion in company history and becomes a partner things get even worse for her.... But her life will change for the better when she meets Charlie, a much older co-worker and partner in the firm who at first gives her hard time, but eventually starts to win her over....

Along for the ride is Richard Simpson, Brian's college roomate and best-friend. Richard is 26 and is persuing or, at least attempting to persue a career in Advertising, but finds it hard to deal with the corporate sharks that are circling at the new firm he was hired to temp at, all he wants is a chance to prove himself but because none of the over-egotistical executives at the firm will even listen to him his life is going to be a lot harder than he thought; espeically when some of his co-workers learn that he is gay and he begins to get harrassarred... Richard is also dealing with a personal crisis as he learns that his long-time life partner, Joey has left him for another man, who happens to be Richard's cousin Mark and that Joey is kicking him out of the house they bought together 3 months ago...

Also featured in this show is Nancy Ganor, one of Shelly's close friends who after getting her Bacholer of Sciences is having a hard time adjusting to life as a lab technician at one of the largest drug companies in America... espeically as she uncovers what just may be one of the largest and possibly deadliest cover-ups in the american drug system; which just may go up as far as the Federal Drug Administration, and even, the President himself.... Nancy will attempt to do the best she can to reveal this cover-up and will hope against hope that she is able to survive... the only person that provides Nancy any support in the company is Chelsea, a much older employee at the company who has known about this cover-up for ages but who isn't really crediable to unveal it because of a past discretion with a higher-up in the company... as Nancy and Chelesea work together a friendship emerges...

Lastly featured is Steven Hill, one of Brian's closest friends who after getting his degree in Family and Consumer Sciences has decided to forget about working and to marry his girlfriend Marcy who he has been dating for six months.... but newlywedded bliss comes to a crashing after she is diagnossed with a terminal and untreatable form of breast cancer which gives her less than six months to live; and his life is changed even more when she tells him that she has a sixteen year old daughter named Laurie, from a short-lived marriage she entered into during high school and that her husband is now deceased with no living relatives and that she intents for Steven to raise Laurie. However soon after Marcy's death, Laurie's presence in his life becomes a much larger burden on him than he could have ever imagined as Laurie suffers a personal tragedy that impacts her mental stability; just as a figure from her past enters the picture, possibly threatening her very life with Steven.
