That is exactly right.

What happened was, Rush noticed that Fox, in a TV appearance talking about embryonic stem cell research, displayed much more movement than he's done in other public appearances. Rush speculated that perhaps Michael might have cut back, or skipped altogether, the taking of his medications for the purpose of emphasizing the seriousness of Parkinsons.

Of course, out came the left..."how dare you criticize Michael J Fox".

Turns out that, upon further research, Rush's staff uncovered an interview that Michael J Fox had done about two years prior, in which he ADMITTED that he did, in fact, occasionally skip his medication in order to make his symptoms more "obvious", such as when testifying before a House or Senate committee who is considering Parkinsons research funding.

So once again, Rush's instincts were exactly right.

Michael J Fox lied (yes, L-I-E-D) in his ads in which he said that embryonic stem cell research is the key to finding a cure for Parkinsons. Embryonic research has turned up absolutely nothing in the way of treatments or cures.

I don't doubt for a minute that Fox wants to find a cure for Parkinsons. But by going the embryonic route, nothing is being accomplished.

On the other hand, adult stem cell research has turned up some amazing things... Rush holds a one day fund raising event on his show, one day a year, and his listeners can call in with donations...this is to help find cures for leukemia, lymphoma and some other of these type diseases. In one 3 hour program, aired a week ago Friday, his audience donated over $3 million (Rush donated over $300,000 himself). He also mentioned that when someone receives a bone marrow transplant, the bone marrow is actually taken from adult stem cells.

Rush and his listeners are not afraid to put their money where their mouths are.

Rush was simply describing how he'd never seen MJ Fox (who's made many putlic appearances talking about Parkinsons) move as much as he did while making that particular political ad...that's what led Rush to (correctly) speculate that Fox had done something different in terms of taking his medication...Rush speculated that MJ Fox hadn't taken his medications for the purpose of making the symptoms more pronounced. That's what started all the criticism. However, a couple of years earlier, MJ Fox admitted in an interview that he DID, in fact, sometimes skip his medications for this exact purpose, before making key public appearances.

In this particular case, MJ Fox tried to explain that Rush was wrong in guessing that Fox skipped his medication...Fox said that he was, in fact, OVERmedicated while making that ad. Don't ask me how that happened.

But Rush's instincts were correct in that Fox's dosages were manipulated prior to the making of that ad. Fox was caught in a lie, and tried to get out of it by claiming that he was over medicated, not under medicated.

What makes Limbaugh think he has the right to judge what a patient of certain disease should look like? Is he a doctor? If a cancer patient looks worse than Limbaugh has ever seen him, does it give Limbaugh the right to speculate if the cancer patient is "either acting or off his medications" and tell everyone that the cancer patient is "shameless"?

It's laughable to even imply that a PD patient could manipulate his meds so he could look a certain way. It only shows how little you or Limbaugh knows about this disease.

Parkinson’s disease is a progressive degenerative disease, meaning it gets worse with time. Initially the symptoms are tremors and slight difficulties to make certain moves. At the later stage of PD, the patients become rigid, stiff, paralyzed and unable to speak. So the patients at the early stage of PD can get away without medication, but once they enter the late stage, they have to be on their medication all the time to be able to function in their everyday life. However, the more often they use their meds, the faster the medication loses its effectiveness. In Michael J Fox's case, up to now he has been battling with PD for 16 years. In order to be able to speak or move, he has to be on his medications. Like most of the PD patients at the late stage of their illness, Fox's condition differs every day and his reactions to the medications differ every day. If his body doesn't respond well to the medication, he's "undermedicated", aka unable to speak. If his medication kicks in too hard, he's "overmedicated", aka rocky motions. He gets what he gets, good days or bad days. He has no control over how he looks at a certain day. That's why Parkinson’s disease is so devastating. If Fox could control how he looks everyday, he'd be back to his full time acting job now.

There are too many factual errors in your post.

When Michael J Fox testified in front of the congress 5 years ago, he made it crystal clear to everyone that he was off his medications. The reason he did it is that he wanted to display his symptoms to the congress so that the congress could get an idea about PD. Fox explained it both in his book and in several interviews. So where is the lie? Did you notice that Fox disclosed that he's off-med himself at the first place? He never attempted to hide it. He's been honest all the way.

Funny how the only evidences you have are Fox's own words. Yet you believe it when Fox said he's off-meds in his book. But you don't believe it when Fox said his appearance in that ad is what he normally looks like in a bad day. Can you see the contradiction here?

Rush has own medical problems to make fun of others. This is nothing more then partisan politics. :rolleyes:
