storylines-lol Why did it seem like everything having to do with HIGHER EDUCATION occured OFF CAMERA?

Michael's School that he was bused to-"Never heard anything else about it"

J.J's passing the 12th grade and Graduating-"Never Heard anything else about it"

Florida going to Night School-"Never heard anything else about it"

The Name of Thelma's College-"Have no idea"

LOL-Damm they could have done some episodes about the Evans achieving Higher education SOMETIMES!!! I see why Bill Cosby didn't let his kids watch Good Times-lol

Bill Cosby lives in a bubble. His kids had a nice privledged life. Not all blacks lived in a mansion. Ghettos did and do exist.

Um... I think he knows that. Mr. Cosby does have a point, I know not all African-Americans that are in the ghetto choose to live in the ghetto but you do have some lazy ass people who let their ghetto mentality and the 'race card' cripple them.

My father grew up in the ghetto but with hard work(which most kids don't know s**t about these days) and going to college, he made it out of the ghetto. He wasn't popping babies, hustling, nor getting in a gang or blaming the white man for HIS problems. Because of my father's hard work, his kids didn't have to grow up in the ghetto, we grew up in Laguna Beach.

Let me say this, i've never experience the 'ghetto' life, but judging by the way a lot of African-American(even white kids, hell EVERY race) youths act these days like education is a white thing, I have to say that Mr. Cosby is right.

Just once I wish Good Times would have dealt with Higher Education and Financial Improvement

I know, they had before but once again, when someone has a chance to better themselves(i.e Thelma going to an upper class 'white' school or James getting a better job in Alaska) it's shot down due to the race card or Flordia getting over dramatic.

This thread needs to be merged with that other one you made Solomon. I don't want to miss the points on either one.

I agree with you PINK! Thelma not going to that college because of that sorority was SOOOOOO DAMN STUPID. Hey, the real world is NOT PURE AND PERFECT THELMA. There will always be groups, clubs, etc. that are like that sorority...DON'T JOIN IT THELMA!!!! Go to the college AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE! TAKE A STANCE AND MAKE A CHANGE. No one said she had to be part of that group. As for her comment, I wouldn't want to go to a college that supports sororities like that...PLEEEEEEEEZE...like the college really encourages the kids to do that. "Hey kids, make a club and get minorities in it..."

DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THAT ALASKA JOB!!!!!DAMN IT FLORIDA!! Most of you know how I feel abt that one!!!!!

That was really stupid! My god, there was a sorority that I hated when I went to college but guess what I did to solve the problem? Just didn't join!! Did The Evans family really think by not sending Thelma to that school would change things at the school?! I really couldn't stand the race card they threw at that girl, for the love of God not every white person that steps in your house has a plan of doing you wrong!

Oh god, that Alaska job and every other job that was offered to James that would keep them out of the ghetto Florida objected to. Jesus woman, God wants you to do well in life. God's plan wasn't to hold your ass back.

WHOO HOO!!!!! You sound just like me. You have the same thoughts as I regarding that college thingy and the Alaska job!!!! Whoo hoo...DAMN! DAMN! DAMN!

I swear Thelma pissed me off in that episode. And she said it LIKE SHE WAS EXPECTING THE AUDIENCE TO ROAR AND CLAP AND CHEER. But they LAUGHED AT HER COMMENTS!!!! Even James was egging her to go to the college, that she didn't need to join the sorority.

And it's so true abt the Alaska job. I keep getting flak from some here on the board abt that job, but c'mon!!!! $500 bucks a week!!! He could've had the family stay for a short time til the money built up, then they could have searched for a better apartment or small house to rent! Hell, they could've even moved to a different location like Washington...the kids seem excited when they thought dad was going to Peoria (Illinois) or Seattle (Washington)...so what the hell!!!

YOU CRACK ME UP...YOUR COMMENTS ARE SO DAMN FUNNY BUT TRUE! :brent

Flordia was ALWAYS being dramatic about something, she rivaled New York from Flavor of Love in that department.

I've watching some episodes of Good Times involving white people made me feel uncomfortable watching it around my mother who came over from another country and I always wondered if she thought that Black Americans thought like The Evans when it came to white people. They sure love throwing the race card.

um...Good Times dealt with James working hard and having high moral values. In the end, they all worked their way out of the ghetto.

I totally agree, some people feel like you are stuck in the ghetto, but if you are determined to get out you will.. I had a good friend and her family stayed in the ghetto, it was not as rough as some but still it was what it was.. anyway her husband stayed in college got his degree and now he is a lawyer and she does not have to work.. she chose the career as a housewife, it goes to show you that we can make a change in our own lives if we chose to do so

I know a lot of people had disagreed with the statements that Bill Cosby had made, but when you really listen to what he is trying to say... it makes a lot of since.. sometimes the truth hurts... make a positive out of a negative situation... my grandmother use to say.. its not where you've been but where you are going

I find the people who disagreed with what Mr. Cosby had to say where the same ones that he was talking about. Some people hate being called out. Some idiot on here took it so far to dis Mr. Cosby's dead son:rolleyes: a damn shame, it was on The Osbournes boards, honestly, those headbangers are always bitchy about something...

Yeah, that happened around the time The Osbournes were popular and had their own show on MTV. Cosby did an interview and he mentioned how The Osbourne kids were sad and he said some other stuff. He said that because the kids cursed at their parents were just disrepectful. Sharon turned around and gave a response to what he had to say.

People criticized Cosby for what he had to say but some people keep forgetting that he talks the talk and walk the walk. Him and his wife have a foundation where they offer opportunity for African-American kids to attend college. Plus, they give millions to historically black colleges and other universities. He gives back to the community in lots of ways. I can see if he wasn't doing anything and only ranting just to hear himself speak-then people have a right to complain.

I typed all that just to say I agree with you. LOL...

He was telling the truth about Jack and Kelly. They are so pathetic it's sad! Aimee was the only decent one.

People tend to forget that Cosby shelled out millions to African-American kids to attend college but their ignorance overlooked that.
