Am I the only one who thinks that the cartoons that are out now are pretty bad? Growing up I always enjoyed cartoons like The Flinstones, The Jetsons, Looney Tunes etc. Now you rarely find those cartoons and they totally messed up the Cartoon Network with stuff like cow and chicken and all kinds of crazy things. Does anyone else agree that the cartoons that are out are not nearly as good as the ones years ago?

Yes, I agree. The artwork is mediocre, the music is forgettable, and the content is weak. I like King of the Hill and the Simpsons, but Saturday morning fare is putrid-just like many new shows; that's why I'm stuck in the past and watch reruns.

The best cartoons were Popeye, all Hanna-Barbera, all Warner Bros. (Looney Tunes), Bullwinkle, Woody Woodpecker, Casper, the Chipmunks, Mighty Mouse, etc.

We don't have artists today like Walter Lantz, Jay Ward, Walt Disney, Charles Schultz, Dave Fleischer, Friz Freleng, William Hanna, Joseph Barbera, to name some.

And what about all the great voices? (Think of Foghorn Leghorn, Barney Rubble, Bugs Bunny or Bullwinkle). Also the music was written, produced and played by top contract and studio musicians.

It's interesting to see that kids today still enjoy the old cartoons because they were of quality and had substance. If they only showed old cartoons on Saturdays, kids would watch. The poor kids are stuck with this modern crap and don't know better or have a choice.

Well times have changed.Cartoons I use to watch when I was little: Doug,Rugrats,Beavis and Butthead,Rocko's Modern Life...I dont really know any kid cartoons now other than sponge bob and Dora the explorer...I watch alot of cartoons now that are not for kids:Family Guy,Aqua Teen Hunger Force,Simpsons.

Exactly they're just recycling old plots and storylines. I feel sorry for todays kids as they really missed out on some great cartoons.

i don't like today's cartoons. all of them aren't even that remotely funny and are no patch on the warner bros and hanna barberra classics

I don't care much for todays cartoons. My real beef is that they've destroyed Saturday morning cartoons. When I was a kid, Saturday morning was special because it was "Cartoon day." Now, Saturday morning is just another morning, and the fare offered seems (to me) pretty awful.

I find myself catching re-runs of shows from 10+ years ago, shwos that I did not like at the time. But these days, compared to most all new stuff, those older 2nd-quality shows are great.

Cartoon Network is ruined these days, shows mostly crap. Not only is it full of anime, but now live-action movies too? The point of CN was to have cartoons, not more of the same junk you can see on TNT or TBS.

Cartoons are in a sad state of affairs. Long live re-runs and DVDs!

Thats why i got into anime long ago!

when have we ever seen a cartoon in the 00s that rivals the likes of the hanna barbera, warner bros classics? or even alvin and the chipmunks and thundercats during the 80s. the cartoons that are out today are just as poor and mediocre as the music in the charts and the tv shows that are on our screens. give me the retro cartoons any day of the week!

I basically agree with everyone here--at least I did until Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends came around. Great idea with unusual, weird-but-cute characters and distinctive voices and personalities. Sure the animation is flat, but I think that is the point--they are mostly creations of the minds of children.
