My right foot is hurt. I was helping my mother move our floor tv (it's one of those old, extremely heavy ones). We've had it for 16 years (Aug. 1990). The power went out last night and the tube inside the tv went out so we had to buy a new tv. Anyway, I was helping my mother move it out of the house we were doing ok until she went to flip it on it's side and it was so heavy that it came crashing down, I tried to move out of the way, but I wasn't able to move fast enough. It landed on top of my right foot. If the corner of it had landed on my foot it would be broken. Thankfully the foot isn't broken. It's very bruised and it really hurts. My mother said it's going to be bruised for a few weeks. I also will be unable to wear a shoe on that foot for about a week. I'm having to keep it elevated and have ice on it. My mother said during the next 72 hours the pain is going to be really bad. I took some medicine for the pain, which has helped a little. I still have a lot of pain though. Tomorrow is probably going to be much worse; pain wise. :( Normally the day after is worse according to my mother. It happened around 5:20pm. I don't know if I will be on the computer or how long in the next few days. I'm going to try to get on, but if I don't that's why. On top of that, I have a sore throat. I really hope I'm not coming down sick. I don't want to be sick and in pain at the same time. :( Has anyone ever had something very heavy fall on them?

Ouch! That sounds very painful, Jen. :eek: Fortunately, I've never had anything that heavy fall on me. Did you go to the hospital, just to make sure you don't have a small fracture? I hope you are back up on your feet very quickly! :)

Ooo! I hope you heal fast. I've had a heavy can drop on my bare toe ( it turned black and blue ), a horse step on my barefoot and I've had my fingers slammed in doors.

Hope you feel better. Take it from someone who broke their foot(ankle actually), it could have been a lot worse.

I've dropped stuff on my foot, and run my feet into countless numbers of doors and tables. Any foot injury hurts SO BAD. OMG. Try to distract yourself with a good book or some music. Distraction can be as good as drugs.

That sounds painful Jen. I know I've seen stars when I've stubbed my toe in the past. Take care of it, and I hope the pain starts to let up soon.

OUCH jen... sorry to hear that! Thank goodness you didn't break it. Like Janice said, hopefully the pain will let up soon.

I hope your foot begins to feel better. :) A swollen foot is one of the worst things to have because there is no way to get anywhere without using it. Though my advice would be not to walk on it.

i can sypmathize, i was helping some friends out with a haunted hay-ride last year and had my foot run over by a tractor. it hurt a whole lot, luckily i was wearing very good quality steel toed boots and didn;t lose my foot

You poor dear! I remember I jammed my pinky toe by accident into a wooden crate by accident. There's not much they could do for broken toes. The whole side of my foot was purple for about a month!

It's very difficult to walk right now. I try not to walk on it, but I never realized how much walking I normally do. :lol: Getting up and down walking around, etc.. I think the stairs are the worst. I'm going to try and get a doctor appointment for Friday. I want to make sure that there aren't any bone fractures or anything like that. I don't know if the doctor will want to take an x-ray or not.

What you need to do is stay in bed and get your mother and sister to wait on you hand and foot (pardon the pun). :lol:

When my husband was at work (he was a tool and die maker journeyman at GM) a several ton die fell on his feet. He was saved by a large bolt on the floor that kept the die from crushing his feet. He said that he remembers thinking that his feet were gone.:eek: It took several weeks for his feet to heal. They swelled up like a balloon and were almost totally black. But he recovered thank God.:)

Yeah, it'll take a few weeks before you will be able to walk normal. Are you putting some ice on your foot while resting, Jenny? That might help some of the swelling go down.

Ouch. I stubbed mine about 5 years ago and it tore a toenail off. I eventually just started moving around and it healed up. Get better soon. Try to rest your foot too though. It needs the rest. :)

That sux that the insurance won't pay for it. It's part of the healing of the foot...it should be allowed. You get it free and the doctor bills for it and insurance pays them.

Good news your foot isn't really broken! Yeah, that's too bad about the PCP that misinterpreted the X-rays. Pretty weird.

lol....CTs cost more, which means the scanner costs more, which means it's more accurate and precise. You'd think a physician would realize that.

And I've never gone in for a possible broken bone, but I remember when I shut my finger in my car door, the doctor didn't even touch it before ordering X-rays to see if anything was broken. So to squeeze it to death does seem unnecessary. And painful! Hello! Derrrrr
