John Hall, leader of the seventies band Orleans, which hit the charts with "Dance With Me" and "Still The One," is running for the U.S. House of Representatives from New York's 19th District as a Democrat. Let's hope Hall wins so he can rock the House! (And possibly the Senate! :D)
I saw him on Stephen Colbert's show. :)

Musician Defeats Republican in New York
By Associated Press
NEW YORK - A musician who wrote the 1970s pop tunes "Still the One" and "Dance with Me" toppled a longtime Republican lawmaker after a campaign that merged his minor-league celebrity with anti-Iraq war momentum and YouTube.
John Hall, who founded the band Orleans and produced albums for Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt and Linda Ronstadt, ousted Rep. Sue Kelly, who swept into office as part of the 1994 GOP revolution.
"When I make a record, it's 110 percent, when I run for office, it's 110 percent," Hall said.
On his nightly Comedy Central show, TV faux-news anchor Stephen Colbert profiled the race as part of his series on the 2006 election. Colbert and Hall harmonized a duet of "Dance With Me," and the comedian mocked Kelly for declining to appear.
During a debate, Kelly responded furiously after Hall suggested she could have done more to ensure the safety of pages who were targeted by former Rep. Mark Foley. Her outburst was one of many moments in the race that were immortalized on YouTube, the popular video sharing Web site.
