What do you think? I think a road test at age 70 should be mandatory.

At least an eye test. Something to test reflexes would be ideal too. As some people age, they just can't react to things as quickly as they should.

Yes, they should- at least an eye test. If they don't pass, they shouldn't be able to renew their license.

On a side note, there ARE some elderly people who are still legit to drive, believe it or not, lol. My grandfather died back in March. He was 92 and still driving. He had glasses, but his eyesight was great with them. Sharp as a tack until the minute he died (he died from an aortic aneurysm). Never had a ticket or an accident in all of his 92 years. It's funny, he had just gotten his license renewed a month or two before his passing.

Yes, I think it's important for them to be tested

Yes, I think this should be a requirement for renewal after age 65.

I agree. I think drivers should be required to retest at age 65, and at every renewal afterward. (Of course, I also think drivers should have to retest at ages 18 and 21, but that's another story for another day)

However, at the very least, the former will never happen (the latter could be another story)....the over 65 crowd are a HUGE voting bloc, and any politician that votes for mandatory testing for 65+ will almost assuredly not get re-elected.

Yes. Katie Couric covered this last night. That man that killed people and injured 70 in the California market. Just terrible. Drivers should definitely need to take a test. It could prevent many accidents.

I approve of this 110%. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of senior citizens who are excellent drivers, but there are some who should not be allowed to drive. Driving 45 MPH in a 65 MPH zone does cause accidents.

If your talking about the test where they're driving in the car with an instrusctor who askes you questions and watches you drive, than yes. I think that should be required for all ages.

Yes most defintley. I work at a Nursing Home and have seen many elderly people drive that shouldn't be. I know it's a form of independence, but it's just reality as well.

I think everyone should after 15 years. To many accidents happen from not just old people.

Maybe every 15 or 20 years, but less time between as people age. An 80 year old man is much different than a 65 year old man, in most cases.

Yes, that makes sense. How about this

say you get it the first time at 17.

You have to retake it

when you are 30
when you are 50
when you are 65
when you are 75
every 2 years after that

I've seen so many elderly people who drive and shouldn't be that it's scary. I think they're actually a lot worse than teen drivers are.

Personally, I think everyone should be tested every few years and reminded of the rules of the road and driver etiquitte yearly (more often if neccessary).

I think people should be retested at age 60. It will make the world a safer place to drive.

Absolutely! I'd willingly submit to it, myself. The last thing I'd want is to be is a danger to anyone.

You stole my thunder Matt

I would even go every 5-10 years, unfortunately it would be another government cash grab as they would probably charge as much as initial licensing. Too many people with too many bad habits at least it would force everyone to learn any new traffic laws.

i completely think that you should have to retake it multiple times throughout your life. but just at 65-70 is good for me
