Already visited:

New York City--Near and dear to my heart. I spent my younger years in or around NYC. I like the Upper East side, Central Park, Little Italy, Upper West Side, Greenwich Village, Times Square, Battery Park, etc., etc., Not too much I don't like about NYC

San Francisco--Great city; only an hour by car from my home. Too many good things about it to mention.

Los Angeles--It's in my state and one of my favorite places. Love Santa Monica, Burbank, Toluca Lake, old Farmer's Market on Fairfax, Getty Museum and many more places there.

Philadelphia--Went on a field trip to Independence Hall and Franklin Institute when I was in fifth grade. Don't remember too much.

Boston--Never lived there, but love the place when I visited in summer, 2002. Awesome. Great restaurants and waterfront. Fanuel Hall and Quincy Market; food court to beat all food courts!

Nashville--Passed through it once. Had a big, long street downtown with lots of nightlife. That's all I remember. I can't really say I "saw" the city, though.

Want very much to visit:

1. Chicago--Drove by Comisky park on the interstate when I was younger, but it doesn't count. I never actually saw the city. I want to ride the EL, and eat authentic deep-dish pizza.
2. Seattle--I've heard it is beautiful; want to see why Frasier Crane liked it so much, take in the restaurants, coffee shops and scenery.
3. Milwaukee--Want to see where the Cunninghams and "The Fonz" lived. Think I'd like the traditional ethnicity there, as well as the breweries.

I live in LA and Toluca Lake is one of my favorite parts of Los Angeles:)

Cool. That whole SE portion of the San Fernando Valley, where NBC studios, and the movie lots and Universal is; I love that place! The last time I was there was in August, 2000. We saw the Jay Leno show and after ate at a Thai restaurant on Riverside in Toluca Lake. I'll never forget what a great time we had! :) You live in a great area, fellow Californian!

I've been to Chicago waayyyy more times than I can count. I've also been to St. Louis, Nashville, Orlando, Columbus, Louisville, Minneapolis....I'm probably forgetting things.

The one place I would love, more than anything in the world, to go is New York. That and Los Angeles.

My god... Okay, right off the bat, I've been to:

New York City
Minneapolis (gazillions of times)
Denver (not a super-huge area or anything, but it's bigger than here)
Orlando
Washington DC/Arlington, VA
Detroit

And my god... I LOOOOOOOOVED NYC out of all the major cities on my list. I could easily stay up until 4AM walking around the city, and get up at 7:30AM. NYC is seriously the city that never sleeps. I can't wait to go back, or ideally, live around the New York Metro area.

Places I'd like to visit:
Los Angeles (happening within the next year)
Orlando (yea, I already went, but that was in VERY EARLY 1990! I was LITTLE.)
Chicago
Seattle
Philadelphia
Honolulu
Maui
Phoenix
St. Louis (a stepsis of mine just moved there and I want to visit her there)
Boston

I'm sure there's more. :) Out of them all, I want to go back to NYC soooooo bad. I fell really hard head-over-heels in love with the city when I got to visit in March of this year. :D I'd really like to explore Brooklyn and Queens some more the next time I go back... and I wouldn't mind going to the Bronx to check out the Met and perhaps the Bronx Zoo.

Thank You, a lot of people loathe Los Angeles; it is too crowded, too smoggy, too dirty and the people are rude, well, yes, that is true, but I still love it:lol:

Los Angeles, New York City and San Francisco are my favorites overall, and to tell you the truth, my experience and impression of LA people has not been that they are rude; on the contrary! I've been treated overall hospitably by total strangers anytime I've visited there.

Alright, I consider a city over about 100,000 peopleto be major:

VISITED in the last 5-6 years:

Atlanta(several times)
Birmingham
Montgomery
Memphis, TN
Mobile
Pensacola
Jacksonville, FL

How pathetic.

Visited most of the East Coast cities(actually stayed in Washington D.C.) in October 1989 when I was a baby(don't remember) on a trip to Canada. I really want to go to these cities, and with luck, within a year or so, I will, pretty much in order of priority

Chicago
Washington D.C.
New York
Los Angeles
Philadelphia
Seattle
Miami
Pittsburgh
San Francisco
Houston

The top 3 are the ones I want to see the most though. I've got some very preliminary plans to go on a trip next Summer, probably in Late July or Early August.

It is a cool place. Tara is of course pointing out the bad stuff abt it. But what major city doesn't have bad elements to it? Being right next to L.A. County and having seen so many parts of it there is so much that is so beautiful. You have the coast. MOST BEAUTIFUL COASTLINE!!! EVER!!!! Malibu is right down the coast from here, abt 15 minutes away. Gorgeous homes, the mountains, and yes THE PACIFIC OCEAN. And from here you can see Catalina Island. Gorgeous, just gorgeous. You have Hollywood and all the hoopla there. Or you can visit the valley. I can't say enough abt it.

The pic below is overlooking our county of Ventura! Can you see me?

The freeways do suck though!!!!! Just ask Tara aka Hollywood Chick!;)

In L.A. and it's environs, lets not forget about the common really tall Blonde women, the common really Hunky-muscle men, and the ohh-so common size-zero waists! LOL

Isn't Los Angeles County the land of the hunks, size zero waists, and really tall blond women?

Those 3 do exist in L.A. and it's area, right? Or are they just 3 myths?

Hm, I seem to remember hearing that the actual city of Denver had around 500,000 people. Some quick checking on Wiki tells me almost 558,000 people, and the metro area has 2.3 million people.

Minneapolis has around 374,000 people, St. Paul has 277,000 people and the Twin Cities metro area has around 3 million people, just a point of reference.

So, there ya go. :)

I always go by metro area cause most people commute to work, the bars, clubs, etc. Denver itself is really expensive (the good areas anyway) so the suburbs offer cheaper housing. Same with Chicago, it's only got a little over 2 million, but with the metro area, it's almost 10. I don't count just the city population cause the city wouldn't be the same in overcrowding, buses, trains, traffic jams, etc., with only 1/4 of the people there.

Honey, I might disk my city, but trust me, I LOVE LOS ANGELES!!! give me the smog and the crowded freeways, and I am never going to leave...Yes, like all major cities, LA DOES have it good side and bad side (it is the second largest city in the country); LA has EVERYTHING!!!
And for the Valley, hey, I am planning on owning a home in Tarzana (near Encino and Resdea, that is my goal); so instead of being Miss Holywood, I am going to be Tara of Tarzana (catchy, huh?)
